'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

So Ive watched his highlights a few times and decided to watch them again right now. I want to see what he can do with proper teaching. Id like to see how is performs after learning proper mechanics. Right now it seems like hes anxious and giddy when the ball is in his hand, and it keeps him from setting his feet to put some oomph behind his throws. He relies on pure arm strength. If his tape is in chronological order, you can see improvement. Once he gets more experience, learns mechanics and the game slows down for him he could be dangerous

I think the thing to take away here is that if we do choose to take Jennings and develop him as a QB, we'll have the time to do that. Behind Worley this year are RSoph Nathan Peterman, true sophomore Josh Dobbs, and RFr Riley Ferguson. All three of those guys are still really young. Whoever we pick up this year is going to have plenty of time to learn in the system and develop before he has to play.

Peterman is a joke and won't even be on the roster when Jennings is on campus

Look, Peterman isn't the most talented QB on the roster and no one argues that. But the kid works his tail off for this school. To call him a joke is ignorant and immature.

This IS codyg we are talking about. Ignorance and immaturity are among his more endearing traits.

Although we have 4 QB, 3 after this year. I don't have much faith in them at the moment. We have seen all of them but Ferguson. Unless of them steps up this or next year, I expect a QB from the 15 class to start as a RS freshman. The clock is ticking for JJ, he has 2 years to become an SEC caliber QB. I hope that he shows out and proves me wrong. I truly, truly do.

Johnny Football won a lot of games on straight arm strength. I don't expect a kid to be ready to play Day 1 as a freshman at QB. He's a great project for this "spread" system. Ball should be coming out fast. He's giddy because his WRs are open a lot so he's ready to get the ball out.

It's the QB's second year in CBJ's system. They'll be better.

Peterman has talent. His problem is upstairs when the lights go on. Too much hesitation and doesn't process his reads

I disagree. He wasn't a joke coming out of HS, and I doubt you get named the Offensive MVP in the state of Florida, without having the talent. He just hadn't adjusted to the speed of the game when he got thrown in, for the UF game. Very few redshirt freshmen do.

Dobbs was the same way, but he handled it decently at times. I went to the public practice in Neyland, last August, and Peterman looked pretty good....made some really nice throws downrange. It will come to him, and I think it will be a tight race across the board, this fall.

jennings, who’s now ranked the state’s no. 1 overall prospect in the 2015 class by 247sports, is scheduled to visit tennessee on saturday and plans to announce his college choice monday morning. A few auburn picks came in after he recently went public with his planned announcement date, but the last 13 predictions for jennings all have been for tennessee.

On top of that, the kid really seems to be a class act. Watch any of his interviews. He is very polite and humble. Just seems like a great kid who will do well in life regardless of how things work out for him on the football field.

Where's the pic of him flying through the air on the basketball court? Anyone have it? Kid is an athlete.

I just finally watched his hudl films. What stood out the most to me is the way he continues to look down field for receivers no matter what was going on around him. Had great vision and He is very determined to pick up yards. Running and passing. He is a threat running, but seems to be a pass first guy. Are we recruiting him at qb, or as ath? I think it's a must to give him some looks at qb. Kid is a winner and with some coaching could be a great get. Now I dunno how he would fair in the sec. But again, He deserves a shot at qb

"Yes, he's being recruited as a quarterback." -Fortenberry

"Tennessee certainly isn't the only school recruiting him as a quarterback. Auburn and Mississippi State are very much in it and are recruiting him hard as a qb as well." -Fortenberry

Nm I got my answer. And I think it would be stupid not to take him as qb

Does this guy's commitment affect Gibson or Gentry's potential pledge?

Hard to say. Of course fans will say a kid has to be willing to compete and while I agree, depth charts matter to kids now a days. Tough to sell a kid on being "Your Guy", when you are taking multiple QBs in 1 class. The good thing is IF Jennings picks UT, at least you know your getting a possible QB in 2015. Never know how a kid will react to others being taken at his position. Especially the QB position.
