'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

Kyle Oliver had some high praise Jauan on Big Orange Saturday night. He said he definitely thinks he has what it takes to be a QB in the SEC and said he had a great work ethic.

I'm not too bummed about it. He will more that likely be redshirting next year anway. He'll be a great QB for us, but is still working his skills up. Lot's of raw talent to be developed.

Agreed. I can't imagine if I was a Sr., that I would want to give up my Spring semester either. You'll have 5 years in college (with a red-shirt) to grow and develop....have fun and enjoy the last moments of your high school days.

Then why not play basketball?

I'm guessing he's trying to minimize his chances for getting hurt a little. Just a guess though.

Besides, if he isn't playing basketball, it gives him more time to work on football skills.

Hasn't been playing defense that much in practice. Zero in scrimmages.

He said he wasn't playing BB in April. Coach was furious. Top 10 BB player in the state is kinda hard to replace.

Makes no sense to me. A great way to keep the competitive edge while staying in shape.

He can stay in shape.

Yeah thanks. Bball is a fun way to do it and along side with the guys he's already played with the last several years. Can't see why he would not play his senior year because of risking injury. He could get injured simply from exercise. He's not bubble boy. He shouldn't quit now.

Obviously his passion is football. If he doesn't want to play BB, thats his choice. I don't have a problem with it. He can spend that time working on his footwork and delivery, which has improved greatly.

Makes perfect sense.

Take those few months to develop as a football player in the weight room, film study, nutrition, field work, reduce risk of injury...

Basketball conditioning is not what you need for football (though there is some overlap).
