'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

This is what Dooley did with Worley. Cost him a whole year. Stupid. If Butch would've put Dobbs in I would've been shocked beyond belief.

IIRC, Dooley put in Worley to hand off at the end of a blow out. Bama maybe. Big difference than playing to beat a ranked team. Division rival no less.

I'm in the minority on this, but I think if Dobbs was ahead of Peterman, Dobbs would have played. Everything I read and saw from fall camp had Dobbs as a distant third.

I have no idea how close the battle for the number two QB was. I do think that if they were close at all, Peterman would be the guy they played. If the battle is that close you put in the guy who has already used his red shirt.

They wanted to redshirt Dobbs last year. Butch will not play Dobbs this year unless Worley goes down for the season. Dobbs is better that Peterman but will not burn the redshirt this year unless absolutely neccessary.

I've never thought about it that way, this actually seems like the most logical explanation for having Peterman ahead of him on the depth chart. Cuz I had not been able to figure out why that was LOL...

I just have to think that if Dobbs gives us the better chance to win, he's in there.

The rationale in camp that was given was that Dobbs wasn't able to hit the broad side of a barn. One of the reporters likened it to a golfer having the "yips". One of those unexplainable things where he wasn't great, but wasn't terrible with his accuracy last year....but had regressed in that department this Spring and Summer. Hopefully he gets this year to figure it out. If he improves that area, most likely he will be able to pass Peterman again in the Spring/Summer.

Holy crap! Haven't watched any recent highlights of his til now. He is a beast and if he continues to improve as QB at the rate he is going then who's gona beat this guy out in a couple yrs?

Becoming a legit question...love the "problem" of having him, Dormady and Kendall on the same roster.

He has really, really improved. That film versus Indy is nasty.

Those throws at 1:45 and 2:15 tho. :)

Yes it is. That game allowed him to show just how far he has come. Normally, his offense is a primarily running based offense. Being down the whole game and 28 points in the 4th quarter tend to eliminate running plays from the playbook. I think he can thrive in Butch's offense....but still think a redshirt year is in his best interest.

The arm strength he shows on the throws rolling out is phenomenal. The one at 1:45 is rolling to his left, as a right hander, chucking it 50+ yards and hitting his WR in stride for the TD. :good!:

He's looking more and more natural at QB. Not just an athlete playing the position. Evidences the dedication and hard work he has put in. No doubt he is a hell of a leader, too. Watch his line when healed an incredible play. They're all like: "sweet, another one."

For the record, I never doubted him. Just happy to see it come to fruition.

I'll add my voice to those who thought the film from that game was great. First time really paying close attention to film on him, and it wasn't at all what I expected to see given the to-QB-or-not-to-QB dialogue in this thread. He looks very good.

Slight tangent, but relevant: where Worley gets in trouble as a passer is when he's forced to hurry a throw and can't just step into it. He puts plenty of velocity on the ball under ideal conditions, but he can't just muscle the ball out there off of his back foot. That's what leads to almost all of his underthrows. Ideally you'd love for every throw to have perfect form, but sometimes the pocket breaks down and you need to just make something happen quickly... which brings me back to this kid. Jauan looks to have a strong enough arm to get the ball where it needs to go even when he can't get his legs underneath him. Some pretty ridiculous and unfair things can happen when you have a quarterback who can do that, especially when he can escape like Jauan can.

I could be wrong on this, but i see more overthrows on Worley's misses this year than lack of power. Now last year he did underthrow North a dangerous amount. But i see more balls sailing over the receiver this year... which is surprising that he doesn't have more INTs because those are usually picked off by the FS. But

But back to Jauan, he does have a nice flick of the wrist that can just send the ball wherever he wants to and surprisingly good touch on balls he needs to drop over a trailing defenders' heads.

Word from RTI lately is that while he did indeed have the yips this summer, he's recovered quite nicely and is throwing the ball with a lot of confidence, power, and accuracy now.

That's good to hear.
Stay away from George Whitfield, Dobbs.
