Would it have made that big of a difference?
So Worley is an elite passer now? This system doesnt call for elite to be successful. It calls for an intelligent quarterback who doesnt make mistakes and can put the ball into the playmakers hands. JJ is being recruited by this coaching staff as well as Dormandy. So who knows more about the skill set of these recruits. You or coaches that see beyond your stats in the paper.*This is by no means a knock on JJ*
My take on these two.
JJ is a bit of a wildcard. I think CBJ expects JJ to develop into a great SEC caliber QB... But with a kid that is an ATH trying to become a SEC QB, it can be hit or miss.
This is where QD comes into play. I think he is the safety net at QB for the class. I think the staff knows he has a shorter path to becoming a SEC caliber QB. I think they feel very confident that he can develop to lead our team back to winning seasons.
Back to JJ. If JJ can develop into what some people here think he can, we will have a real stud on our hands. I just think at this point it is still a giant unknown if he will develop his passing to be serviceable in the SEC.
Keep in mind, our offense and weapons at WR are not set up to have a Nick Marshall type at QB. We need an elite passer who can also tuck the ball an run when needed.
I wonderif the Staff always thought of him as a QB or if this is a surprise to them. If it's a suprise and they are not interested in him as a QB does he look elsewhere?

False
I agree. Very little chance IMO that JJ plays as a TFR. Love his upside, but he will need some time. If the RS of Dobbs plays out throughout the year, IMO he is our likely starter in 2015. Good move by the staff to save a year for the kid rather than burn a year in mop up duty.
I am interested to see what the staff decides to do with JJ as true freshman assuming He doesn't win job over a Dobbs. Do you redshirt and just work on his mechanics and fundamentals for a year and save a year in future or do you find ways to get him the ball such as wildcat package. He is such a dynamic athlete that you hate to not find a way to get him on field as a freshman. If I were coach I would be very tempted to let him run a few plays a game in wildcat with Hurd/Scott/Kamara
My hope for JJ is that he comes in and starts right away. This kid has all the intangibles. Pure athlete, winner, and ultimate competitor. What we have been missing at quarterback for a while now (although, Worley has drastically changed my opinion this year).
I have to agree. Everyone forgets the kid was a true freshmen last year and performed fairly well in the SEC. Anyone remember the orange white game?
My feeling is he is a gamer...performs best with the lights on. Vandy game is not a good indication...who did we have at receiver, tight end? Replay that with this years receiving core, te, and backs.
I'm not saying he will be better than Dormady, Jennings, etc. but he has potential.
