'15 TN ATH Jaylond Woods (UT Commit 4/20/13)

Just curious why the staff would offer and accept his commitment so early if he is a dime a dozen player? If he is not a need, and nothing special, why did they take him?

I don't think it is confusing at all - he is an instate kid - does have some talent - so you take him

doesnt mean you don't expect him to walk the straight and narrow after you accept that commitment

if you are not an elite level guy the coaches won't and shouldn't put up with much - just isnt worth the risk

if your actions make you high risk then you better hope your talent is high enough to justify it or coaches won't mess with you

I wish we knew for sure whether he is still a commit or not. I like our commitment list to be a true and accurate reflection of reality.

My son goes to Clinton. He said he saw Jaylon at school today. Not much else to report other than the rumors of his transfer are apparently true.

Also, my son Tyler said Jaylon's a little dude. Tyler was friends with Camion Patrick and he said "Jaylon is nothing like Camion. Camion was huge."

Edit: One more thing. Tyler was in PE a few weeks ago and Camion showed up to visit with some old coaches. They played some pickup basketball and Camion threw down a 360 from about 10ft away. Tyler said he looks like he could suit up right now.

This is upsetting that a talented young man can't see the field. I hope he finds his way and is able to display his football talent some where.

He's supposed to be at a JC, unless it is a break

Care to explain AC?

Seems really weird to me that the only two studs that Clinton/LC have ever had were within two classes from each other and interchanged those two schools even tho they are nowhere near each other...

Rumor always was that Clinton's coach now got kicked out of uga for roids.. Not sure it's true tho. His dad coached at Clinton's rival anderson county for a loooong time.

Josh Kerr's (Clinton coach) father was the Halls High School coach (86 state champs) before moving to Anderson County in the early 90's. His name was Larry Kerr, and he coached at Anderson County for a long time. I went to middle school with Josh at Halls. He then transferred from Halls to AC with his father. He did go to UGA (as a walk-on I believe). Can't confirm the steroid issue though.

Is he a better prospect than D.Booth who they cut off last year? IMO No, this kid really shouldn't be waited on. Either you can get your act in gear or not. There are a lot of kids at his size/speed that play his position that would love this offer. We're WRU if you're offered at WR and commit you should be prepared for the prestige that comes with that honor.

True that!....big leagues ain't for the meek...that "Tennessee swagger" Butch preaches means WE GET THE BEST...,you better stay the best! :aggressive:

The Halls team he coached in the 80s looked roided up .The o line they had was huge.No fat boys just jacked up 275 - 280 kids that looked like they could have been on the juice. Was pretty easy to get in those days.Still remember them beating an Andy Kelley led RheaCo. team in Neyland that year.I think Jason Julian was the kicker on that Halls team.

86 team was legit. So was the 96 team that went to the state finals and lost to Pearl-Cohn (John Henderson, Buck Fitzgerald, Santonio Beard, Reggie Ridley) 18-14. I was just a kid in 86, but had a best friend whose brother was on the team. I was a senior in 96-97. And yes, Jason Julian was on that 86 team.

Very interesting "ideas" in here. We played Anderson County back in the day. I played against Kerr. We used to say, "their DB's look like our linemen." Then I hear these comments about his teams at Halls looking huge, and then the rumor about Josh...

Hmmm...

Just talked to my Dad about Jaylond. I can confirm that about a week ago his scholarship offer was pulled. Jaylond's grades are falling miserably and his attitude has declined as well.

As a reminder my facts are through my Dad who works with Jaylond's "foster dad". Just thought I'd inform you all.

He was a reach anyway, sucks his life isn't in order but good for UT

Jeff Hall

Randy hall.. And then he worked on kerr's staff at AC when I was there. He's still a monster.. Got hurt before he could play at UT, but would've been really good. My dad used to tell me stories of him driving guys all the way down the field on every snap during his highschool years.
