'15 TN ATH Jaylond Woods (UT Commit 4/20/13)

Just talked to my Dad about Jaylond. I can confirm that about a week ago his scholarship offer was pulled. Jaylond's grades are falling miserably and his attitude has declined as well.

As a reminder my facts are through my Dad who works with Jaylond's "foster dad". Just thought I'd inform you all.

Give his spot to Rahming! Might help with Edoga and Griffin (wishful thinking)

He lives with family in Clinton so that's why he chose Clinton.

He visited yesterday. Actually saw him as I was walking out and had a conversation with him. He seemed as if all is well.

For three seasons, Tennessee commitment Jaylond Woods performed at a high level for Lenoir City High School. Woods won't compete for a fourth season there after transferring to Clinton a few weeks ago.

"I wanted the best chance to succeed and I feel Clinton was the best place," Woods said. "I've always been good friends with Tyler Thackerson and I decided to bring my mom over and she fell in love with the community and we agreed it was the best place for me to succeed."

"I think my leadership skills have gotten better," Woods said. "I think I've also improved my route running and my ability to get open. I think I need to step up with my new team and I feel like if I bring the intensity then everyone else will follow."

Woods was at the Orange and White game last weekend. It gave him a chance to speak with offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian. "I spoke to him at the orange and white game," Woods said. "He told me that he was happy with my decision and glad I was comfortable. He told me to work my tail off on the field win and in the classroom to get back on track."

Very important, key quote from Jaylond at the end of that update, IMO.

He admitted to coach telling him to "work his butt off on the field AND in the classroom to GET BACK ON TRACK". That doesn't seem like something a coach would necessarily tell a recruit who was a done-deal part of a recruiting class.

I think there is much work to be done by Jaylond if he wants to sign with UT on NSD, IMO.

I agree...hope he can get it together.

I still just can't understand going to Clinton of all places if you're an athlete like woods coming from LC.. I mean, oak ridge and Anderson county even are right down the hwy.

He has to live in the district he goes to school in.

It may not be as telling as it seems.

He just transferred to a new school and apparently to a new residence and community.

Getting back on track could simply mean that he has work to do to get rolling in his new situation as he was when at LC.

Clinton has had a more successful football program recently than Lenoir City. Neither program has been historically very good. I assume it simply had to do with zoning location.

Has to be zoning because if you want to win championships and live in East TN, you go to Blount County, not Loudon, Anderson or Knox County.

Depends what part of Blount County. As much as it pains me to say this, I doubt that would be the case if you played where I did lol

Haha yes Blount Co equals Alcoa and Maryville for the sake of this argument. Did you go to Heritage?

I resent that. I played for a Knoxville HS program and I don't regret the decision one bit.

The folks at Fulton would take exception with that statement.

I'll give you that - they've got four and are hot right now. But they moved divisions so they wouldn't have to play Alcoa anymore ;).

Look at the overall (and recent) championship level successes at AHS and MHS, it's not even close.

Resent it, but the numbers don't lie. Nothing personal, just speaking the truth. Fulton is legit, tho. Catholic, CAK, mehh... In comparison to Alcoa and Maryville. That is, they've had very good teams and should be proud but these two schools simply tower above the rest.

That's pretty indisputable.

Rumor has it Knox Central played some damn good football during the Joel Helton era, TIFWIW.
