'15 TN ATH Jaylond Woods (UT Commit 4/20/13)

Did I ever say anything about the SEC? Nope. But I do not believe OSU was one of the 2 best teams in the country last year.

Nor was Notre Dame one of the top 2 teams in the country last year, my argument was stemming off of the earlier idea that was portrayed in this thread that OSU is not a contender, while I agree that they weren't one of the best 2 teams in CFB last year they did play a perfect season and if not under bowl suspension would have been in the BCS Championship against ND because of how the BCS currently operates.

Given a four team play-off system they would have been one of the four with ND, Bama, and either Oregon or Ok State as the playoff teams.

I was cheering for OSU to lose every game they played, and actually despise OSU athletics, but I'm also not ignorant enough to ignore the fact that they are a talented football team that did not lose a game this past year. To dismiss any team that plays in one of the major conferences just because it's not the SEC is a supremacist ideal that just adds on to the SEC circlejerk that fans have been buying into these past few years. Is the SEC the best conference in football? Yes. Our we as far ahead of everybody else as we claim to be? No.
Wait till the teams start spending all the extra espn money. If we as a conferance are not way ahead now.Four or Five years of an extra 20mil a year will widen the gap a little more.Unless your us and have a numb nut like Cheek in control of it.Can we please get rid of him and martin.Maybe we could send them to Osu and they could have a threesum with Urbie.Only problem with that is Cheek would pick a buggar causing urbie to have a heart attack .Martin would then refuse giving him cpr cause she only likes other woman.

Is the statement in the interview inaccurate?

Not completely but just don't take everything so literally. I understand why you guys would be upset but hes all vol. Just keep in mind he has exactly zero experience giving an interview or answering questions.

Too make another SEC comparison the 2010 Auburn Tigers had 4 games (one overtime against Clemson) that were within 3 points or less, but they still won and continued to beat a very talented Oregon team in the national championship. The teams they nearly lost to were Kentucky, an eventual 6-7 Clemson, Alabama, and Mississippi State. Parallel that with Ohio State's close games with Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue, and Michigan and you have a very similar schedule outcome.

Not really. Look at the overall schedule of Auburn that year and compare it to OSU's last year. Schedule wise there is no similar outcome. There were no Alabama's or LSU's on OSU's schedule last year. Close games or not, OSU played an incredibly weak ass schedule last year. A 1 loss SEC team absolutely deserved that national title slot over them all day long. It's just proof that the current system is broken and a playoff is sorely needed. You have to think the ND's and OSU's of the world are hating the idea of a playoff, that means no dodging 1 loss SEC schools anymore who play far tougher schedules, when competing for a national title.

All of our current players grew up vol fans! Lol!

Did he transfer high schools, like was mentioned earlier?

Being inexperienced at giving interviews means he was being honest. I can appreciate that. I think the kid loves OSU and it could be a game changer if they come calling.

I'm sure the staff read the quotes or have an idea of where Jaylond is with OSU. I think they should simply lay it out to him. If your 100% Vol and would not entertain the idea of flipping to OSU, happy to hear it and let's focus on building the 2015 class. IF he knows he would entertain the idea, he needs to step away from his commitment and get things right in his mind on where he wants to be. No way should we take a commitment(18+ months before he can sign) from a kid who admits OSU is his favorite school and would be one he would consider flipping to if they came calling. If he would not listen to UM if he came calling, glad he is a VOL.

Im with you, but the guy (although honest in the article) could just say anything to get the coaches off his back if so inclined. I think he's honest and nothing wrong with tellin it like it is. Imo.

Pretty simple to cover things. Ask him directly about an OSU offer if it came. If he said, "Coach I'm all Vol", then he understands taking a visit to OSU 4 months from now would equate to his spot being back open.

5 as of now. Butcher, Jones, Woods, Stewart, and Cherry.

6 if you count Patrick.

I probably wouldn't ask anybody to decommit until we're at 17 or more (assuming we're shooting for 25), or we're full at his position.

I realize you're going more on principle but I don't think it hurts anything to take soft verbals right now. He's not preventing anything from happening and he might firm up as we build around him.

The '14 guys need to get the '15 guys more vocal and active if they aren't already. The closer the '15 class is the less likely any of them would be to decommit. That is why the '14 class communicates so much and all come to Knoxville so much. Get them all invested in the program.

Those kids are like 15 and 16. They probably haven't camped as much so they're not as connected yet

Yeah you are probably right. Vic and the gang do group twitter and phone calls and stuff too. Just an observation that if you make a group accountable to each other they will grow close and would be much less likely to go elsewhere.

Ohio State can maybe change things? I can hear Urban now, "I'll have a heart attack if you don't play for this team". Dude is a scumbag and a complete fraud.

More likely...."I had a dream that I was having a heart attack and you swooped in from Heaven with the PADDLES...Jaylond" :stinker2: :yuck: :scare:
