'15 TN ATH Jocquez Bruce (UT commit 6/17/14)

Ha! I don't know about you but I know he'll be wasting his time listening to what I could tell him. I'm a fan, not a coach or recruiter.

Hence the blue font. Now, if he needs some help troubleshooting his machinery and equipment, or help with his PLC programs or SCADA system, I got him covered.

Now what made you think I was talking about you?
Joc was at a UT camp and apparently displayed talents that impressed Butch and the staff. That is the reason they offered. He may have looked like a low 4* to them instead of whatever he is ranked by the services. I in no way suggested that you or anyone had to "Boom". I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings so if you so desire just do an "Un-Boom".

Nobody's upset. And I don't know you to hurt my feelings. You made a comment, and I addressed it. Nothing more. You feel people should blindly accept whatever the staff does, and after 6 abyssmal seasons not everyone shares that same degree of confidence that you do. To me it was a head scratcher offer and I shared my opinion. Disagree or whatever. Doesn't bother me one way or another.

Hilarious

My first thought of the Jocquez offer was disgust. Why was CBJ&Co.be offering an undersized guy? A sun-kissed smurf to say the least? This is the SEC not Suxalot Onference. Then I opted to at least look at the kid's video highlights. I looked again because I was certain I had somehow, perhaps via a time portal, watched Gale Sayer in action. On the second look, I figured, "No, not Sayers, it's Barry Saunders." The acceleration. The rifle shots through the LOS.The juke moves. The direction shifting. And all without the infantile taunting we see today. Indeed, looking for the referee so he could "give" him the ball.

I've concluded that, yeah, he can play CB for sure. But the Butch would be doing his team a grave disservice if he didn't play JoBru as a RB. On the other hand, his smallish size does dictate the 2nd best position for him is slot receiver. Cause you do want him to have the ball in his hands. He's just out and out dangerous with the ball in his hands.

I do think he's a bit careless is how he carries the ball. In the SEC that's going to mean fumbles. Lots of them. Cure that, give him a halfway decent OL and this guy is a threat to score every freaking time he has the ball. He can be caught from behind and will be with the fast DBs we see in the SEC. But man, oh man, he will gobble yardage, no in chunks, rather by the mile. You won't cach him every time, so he's going to score and score and score.

Now, if only I could figure out why the picture below keeps popping into my head when I'm watching JoBru's video.

I think we all need to give Butch the benefit of the doubt when it comes to evaluating talent and accepting commitments. Let's take a look at some of the guys in the '14 class that people were skeptical of when they were first offered/committed:

Chris Wheatherd
Lavon Pearson
Jakob Johnson
Emmanuel Moseley

Now I realize that these guys still haven't really proven themselves yet, but I bet noone on here would say they wish we hadn't signed anyone of those guys.

Not doubting you because I'm sure there probably were some, but who in the world was skeptical of signing Pearson? I was stoked as hell to get the #2 JUCO WR in the country, especially after seeing his statistical production and highlight film from last year.

My point was that when we first offered Pearson he was unranked and we were his only offer. It was after we offered he blew up and was named the #2 JUCO WR.

Uh, this staff hasn't been here for six abysmal seasons, only one poor season. It's not fair for anyone to blame what happened five years before they got the job on them. Last years team, which was not real great talent wise, was trying to learn a new system under new coaches so no one should have expected very much. I think it's better if fans didn't blindly condemn this staff until they've had a chance to prove themselves.

It has to be an exciting day for this kid. I love stories about a kid that grew up dreaming of this day and he went out and earned it. Great job!

I don't know what he will end up being but I tell you what we don't have to worry about him giving his all for TN.

A Volunteer. (For Life). :hi:

Answer to: "I don't know what he will end up being..." :)

I totally agree with you. But if you travel over to the FF, they will tell you that we underachieved because of what Malzhan did at AU. Some fans are unreasonable and stuck in suck mode.

I'm sorry. Let me blindly boom every commit and not discuss it on a UT sports message board forum where people come to talk about anything related to UT sports.

BOOM! :good!:

Making it you windmill Sir SandQuixote is a bit much :)

State your opinion and move on.

Who has CBJ missed on so far?
Too early to tell? Why yes, yes it is :hi:

If everyone is healthy, Smith is probably the 5th or 6th best WR on the team.

Since CBJ and CZA have both said they like to rotate up to 8–9 wide receivers, number five or number six would still get significant playing time. :hi:
