'15 TN ATH Jocquez Bruce (UT commit 6/17/14)

Recruiting is a tricky situation. Sometimes a coach may take a player that is lower on their board so they can have a good relationship with H.S. coach. I know most know this, just something to think about. I am not saying this is the case here, just in general I could imagine how difficult the discussions are with all the coaches when trying to decide who to take.

What are you talking about? I gave my opinion on the guy. Look I really don't know what is your problem is but I actually have defended you a couple of times on here and thought you were a reasonable poster. I guess people show there true color and yours is like ish brown. Smh

Just don't see how u can say he is not a great player bro. The kid has willed his team through the playoffs, and when is the last time you've heard if SD being this good? Well IMO they really aren't, they just have a couple players who can make them that much if a better team.

What evidence has he shown that he won't be able to contribute or be a great player? Sorry man I'm an extremely sarcastic individual try not to take me so seriously.

I doubt that considering South Knox is not a real hotbed for talent. Bruce stands out because he is that guy and one of the few reasons they are still winning games.

I am not saying that is the case with Bruce, just saying it is not as simple as taking the highest recruit on the coaches board.

A lot of people thought taking Josh Smith was only because he's local. Dude is actually good.

Time will tell on Joc

Bruce can play in the secondary as well, so we will redshirt him and see where he fits best IMO. We always can use playmakers on offense, but we could use some S depth too. Win-win IMO.

I'm not one to say he will definitely RS, or anyone will, because before the year I thought a guy like Emmanuel Moseley maybe even Elliott Berry would for sure and look at them now. You're right though, he's a guy I like on both sides of the ball. Big hitter as we all saw on that one play :)

How many has Butch missed on since coming here? That's right - how many? Hard to come up with even a handful if you tried really hard. JB will ball out at UT because he balls out now and is the best player on the field in virtually every game he has played. He works at it.

Like the Josh Smith reference above - those that knew talent knew he was worthy of being a Vol and they were right. Same deal.

It's not really that hard.

Jason Carr
Woody Quinn
Malik Brown
Paul Harris
Riyahd Jones
Lemond Johnson
Riley Ferguson
Trayvon Paulk

Those are just some that come to mind. Signed and for various reasons have not/did not make much if any impact.

That being said most know I am 100% fine with this commitment.

R. Jones is redshirting this year for some reason. Will be interesting to see if he returns.

Half of those were fillers for the first class that Butch had two months to recruit. They wouldn't be takes now.

Yes, but he did sign them. Tough to look back and claim, "well these ones don't count". That's BS. If the coaches did not think they could contribute, they would not have taken them.

Theres gonna be 3-4 commits in every class that don't pan out. Happens at every program.

More than that on average. LWS had a long statistical post on VQ awhile back showing that in the SEC over the last decade or so that it's more like ~25% don't make it two years. Some schools it was 20% and some it was 30%.
