'15 TN ATH Jocquez Bruce (UT commit 6/17/14)

Assuming he gets his ish together, it will likely be 3-4 years before we find out how good Bruce really is. He's going to redshirt. Assuming we bring in 3 more solid receivers, he'll likely be buried on the depth chart until he's a RS sophomore or Junior.

Bruce is the type of guy you take a chance on with a blue shirt because you think it could pay off 3-4 years down the road.

So what if he doesn't pay off?

Per Hubbs

Speaking of messages, Charles Mosley remains indefinitely suspended while Joc Bruce could likely not see his Tennessee career get off the ground. While Bruce impressed physically early upon his arrival, he has not handled his business on and off the field in good order. Bruce may need to get some things in order and seek a return to Tennessee at a later date if possible.

I'm just saying, you're gonna have to wait 3-4 years before you can make that call (assuming he sticks around that long).

It's not like we haven't had more talented players not pan out the past 2-3 years. If he doesn't pay off, we'll keep recruiting more slot receivers. Joc Bruce/Nathan Cottrell aren't the type of guys that make or break a recruiting class or set your program back if they don't pan out.

It's not like Bruce's spot would've gone to a 5* WR if the coaches hadn't taken him anyway.

Edit: posted this before I see the tidbit from Hubbs. However, I still stand by most of what I said. Whether we Bruce's blue shirt opportunity went to him or Cottrell or another similarly rated prospect has very little impact on our team as a whole.

What an idiot. When your a 2 star recruit you don't show up acting like a prima Donna 5 star

Yea, it's disappointing when you see 5 & 4 Stars show up and not put their best foot forward. But a fringe 3 Star, showing up as a blue shirt trying to earn his way on acting like that?

That's ridiculous.

Kinda wonder what this means. I understand that he's likely been skipping class and is probably in a bad spot because of that (possibly worse than he realizes - these summer sessions move quickly), but what business has there been to handle on the field? Is he not learning the playbook or something?

Could be missing team meetings, or workouts. Who knows

I'm hearing Joc Bruce's time in Knoxville is coming to a close. In fact I understand that he was asked to leave the team on Wednesday. It's a fate that Bruce accepted yesterday. As I wrote a couple of days ago, Bruce's situation was a little more serious than some had let on. So, barring the unforeseen, it looks like the South Doyle product will be playing his football elsewhere. Since he wasn't on scholarship, Bruce can go anywhere he wants to go. NEO is one short term option for him a source told me last night.

Not that bad. Who have we lost? Are any of these guys program changers or major contributors? Out of the 4 players, one was a role player at best and Martin, Mosley & Bruce have produced zero.

He would have had one once the fall started, and it would have counted against the 85 total. So it does free up another spot for the 2016 class.

Maybe it's callous, but his seems like it may end up being a net positive. He was always a questionable offer and if he's not going to make it anyway...well, we need the spot.
