'15 TN ATH Jocquez Bruce (UT commit 6/17/14)

A lot of these kids don't shine every game. Even the highly ranked ones. I remember a handful of is watching Lorenzo Carter on TV and we weren't impressed. Nobody is going to shine if their team is just completely overmatched. Also a lot of defenses will focus on certain players to lock them down. That makes it harder to shine as well. People expect these kids to score or have huge gains every time they touch the ball, but that's not the case. I'm not saying Bruce is all world, but he's really shifty and can bring a different element to the offense. He well benefit from teams focusing on our other receivers.

If sparq scores mean anything then Nathan Cottrell was the local player we missed out on. White running backs don't get our attention no matter how athletic. We will see him when we play Georgia Tech in our renewed long time rivalry.

I liked Bruce as a football player more than cottrell especially for our system. Cottrell is a option/Wing t RB that's it. He isn't a full time RB in our system. He isn't a WR and he isn't a corner. Bruce can at least play all 3 in our system. To what level I don't know but he is much more versatile and a fit for our system than cottrell was

I watched Robert nchemdiche quite a bit on high school and was never like wow he is dominant. Now alvin kamara was awesome in high school. There's a lot more to who gets offered than that. Cottrell doesn't fit our system at all unless he wanted to play wr which I don't think he did.

Not that at all... Cottrell isn't even the type of RB our team needs! Just saying.. We could've done much better than bruce here locally! I didn't say one word about wantin cottrell over bruce.. There's so many more athletes here in knoxville than Nathan Cottrell.. Domonique williams, kj roper and plenty more. All could have played all the positions bruce can.

If it wasn't obvious already, this post made it so. You for whatever reason just don't like Bruce. You might have played for a rival team. Assuming he gets his ish together, it will likely be 3-4 years before we find out how good Bruce really is. He's going to redshirt. Assuming we bring in 3 more solid receivers, he'll likely be buried on the depth chart until he's a RS sophomore or Junior.

Bruce is the type of guy you take a chance on with a blue shirt because you think it could pay off 3-4 years down the road.

I can tell you that Butch was being 100 % honest when he said that he thought Joc was a great athlete. He offered him a scholly based on the fact that he is considered a utility guy on the field. Joc was very honored to have received the offer and even took a blue shirt to open more space up. Joc has learned his lesson and has told CBJ that he is going to not ever skip class again.

I don't know joc personally but I can say I saw him at Walmart and we was well spoken and even used manners !!! He isn't a thug like this makes him sound . Also coach Duncan was my principle in high school and if he endorsed joc then I damn well would to ... Man knows what it's like to play for UT
