'15 TN ATH Jocquez Bruce (UT commit 6/17/14)

If we take Bruce, it likely means Jay Woods will not be here. He still has a ways to go in the classroom

Durago article at TSR lists him at 5-10, 165. OP here says 6' 180. Since lots of folks here know him or have personally watched him, what's the real tale of the tape? Thanks!

I agree that would be good info to have. Could help in trying to figure out where he fits in.

Judging from some of the pictures from the camp he looks to be bigger than 165, but I don't think you can tell from those pics if he is 5'10" or 6'0". His junior tape is probably at 165 though.

He doesn't have that elite speed but has solid speed. I could see why he might be hard to cover in slot. He is constantly stopping on a dime and juking fools on highlights. Nice change of direction.

A little suprised in offer unless maybe its conditional but I have enough faith in butch to trust his evaluations

I'm uneducated on his recruitment; did we offer as a RB, DB, or slot receiver?

"Coach Jones called me up to his office and we talked about my life and it got me emotional thinking about all that I've been through," Bruce said. "He then asked me if I felt like I was good enough to play at Tennessee? I told him yes and he said thanks and shook my hand. I was walking out and he said, 'oh yeah you earned an offer to the University of Tennessee.' It was my dream offer and I still am in shock."

"I felt like I had a really good day," Bruce said. "They had me play running back, wide receiver and defensive back. I really did well at receiver and the receivers coach fell in love with me."

"The competition that I play against isn't like what I went against today," Bruce said. "I went against some good players today and I kept getting up in line and using my skills. It felt good to be able to have success."

"I feel like a huge weight was lifted," Bruce said. "I used to stress over this because it made me feel like I wasn't good enough at these camps. This has given me my confidence back and I got my mojo back. I'm ready to go this fall."

I'm personally fine with taking a kid or 2 a year that might not be there talent wise, but bleed orange.

Think this kid may be a surprise talent wise. Probably hasn't played much slot wr as he is a high school rb. Could potentially be a really good wr and not even know it yet.

Ah, the kind of stuff that makes me love VN. I love to hear this kind of stuff from legitimately great kids that have worked hard and are just happy to have that one offer. Such a breath of fresh air from all the numbers and QB talk.

Can't have enough of these kids that want to play here and know what it means to play here.Good times are coming guys just gotta be a little patient.

Really like this guys attitude and love for the vols. But I'm unsure of his ability

Boom! Glad we offered. Want this kid in the slot. He has good footwork and makes some nice cuts. Hes not a burner, but he will be up against LBs and safeties.... but its not like hes slow anyways. He tries to play physical, which is needed in the slot. If the rumors of Woods are true, I hope Bruce takes the slot spot

Head scratcher. Happy for Joc but he's s 4.6 guy at best. Interested to see how this shakes out.
Incase anyone was curious...
