Get this crap out of here. You clearly never watched Hurd play. Hurd wasn't just wide open holes run untouched. Hurd made fools look silly and if you got in his way he ran you over. Hurd is the real freaking deal. Cottrell is nowhere near that talent level. Nothing special at all about his film. What position would he play at TN? He will never see field at RB. He isn't a Def player. You can only hope he would be a Wes Welker at slot which is a longshot.
People like to bring up blanc and young as justification for Cottrell but you also need to realize that at the elite level that butch recruits that those two likely wouldn't be vols if they were coming out now. Devrin possibly becomes he is so shifty and can make you miss in open field but blanc would have zero chance.
Just wait until they actually excel to say that. None of the aforementioned have yet when it counts. Between all of them what less than 7 starts? That's just a guess I think a Crowder has a few. Smith has a few.East TN guys excelling like kerbyson, young, crowder, Glliam, Smith should help with the no competition in east TN argument just a little in the coming years..
Like I've said, ppl keep bashing east TN, but they keep winning state titles.

Not sure many are bashing East TN btw, some guys just seem more like d1 prospects from there than others. It's the same with most areas that aren't just filled with talent.
Emmanuel Moseley was a 2* and his only offer was Charlotte when the UT coaches decided to take him. He ended up with 0 other SEC offers and only 1 ACC offer. Curious to see how this one plays out.
opcorn:
Very true but he was competing and dominating in the Triad Area in NC(Greensboro, Winston Salem, High Point) and facing teams out of the Durham Area. He was facing D1 talent week in and out. No one had to question whether he was a good player dominating bad competition or just a flat out baller. There are questions surrounding Cottrell

Just looked. He has one start in his whole career according to utsports.7 starts? Young has more than that himself.. These guys are young but some of the most talked about so far in spring practice.
And u need to open your eyes if u haven't seen ppl bashing east tn talent.. It's in everyone of their threads.
The running back clocked a blistering 4.35-second 40-yard dash and timed 4.09 in the shuttle. He also registered a power ball toss of 39 feet.
Cottrell already has an offer from Austin Peay and is getting interest from Southeastern Conference schools like Missouri and Tennessee, as well as Carson-Newman and Nebraska.
Cottrell is not even in the same zip code as Hurd and anyone who thinks so is clueless. Your comparing apples to oranges. Hurd is a known commodity and Cottrell is not one is a bug back with speed the other is a speed back that might make it, might not but his offers tells a lot for someone who attends all the camps.

As I said before they are not the same back. And Hurd is not a commodity yet?! I certainly hope he becomes one of the greatest to ever wear the orange and white but even he has not done anything yet! Just heavily recruited. Do I think Hurd is worthy of all the love,YES!!! He looks the part and I think is going to kill It!
I was merely replying to someone else's post! I do think they are apples and oranges as backs,I stated there two different types. The biggest difference being Hurd is huge and fast which means everybody in the country is going to offer. Cottrell is smaller with Elite speed which means he is only going to fit certain systems but does not mean hes not in the same zip code! There is a reason Chris Johnson went to EAST Carolina(small speed back)...Adrian Peterson a big power back goes to OAKLAHOMA! But both were elite at one point or are elite now. Johnson's on decline but is still the most durable back in the NFL currently with the most consecutive 1000 yard seasons. Hes still not better then Peterson!!! I'm not saying cottrell or Hurd are either of these guys, lol ...JUST BIG BACK,LITTLE BACK COMPARISON
And now people will be like why are we talking about Pro guys on this thread? Simply to make a point that bigger backs are going to always get more opportunities at the bigger schools for scholarships.
Is Cottrell ever going to have the potential Hurd has? No! Hes never going to be 6'3 230!!! But to say he is not in the same zip code at this point remains to be seen. His SPARQ says he's at least one of the best athletes out there, his 40 of 4.35 is the fastest in the country in the 2015 class. Those are facts!!! So people can point to offers but it has only started with this kid. He was an unknown a few weeks ago.
I know a couple of West coaches and have seen the kid play a few times live. I do think he is the real deal in the right system. He is an exciting player and takes over games. I dont care what people say about Tennessee high school football being weak! It is what it is! Will see where he ends up in the end
From there staff I heard he has got three offers in the last two weeks and that at least ten D1s are suppose to be coming to there spring practice that starts soon I think.
