I think the kid has proven he is an elite athlete. His camp performances and sparq showed that. His stats as a player also support it.

IMO he would be considered at RB, WR, and CB in college. We MAY take 1 more RB. We will take another WR IMO, and 2 CBs. Up to 4 total spots.

There are a lot of names the coaches would have to get a no from before Nathan would be in play IMO. I really had hoped he would get the offer, I just doubt it comes now.

If that's it then I remember this syndrome being more the case related to Devrin Young. I honestly don't remember Cody being the "local" kid that we had to take.

If you watch his film he doesn't play at 4.3 speed. He has all summer and this up coming season to prove himself. Mainly this summer. If he's serious about getting offers he should be at camp competing and beating his competition. I have no doubt he will get an offer if he competes.

All comes down to who commits when IMO.

IF the staff decides to take a 2nd RB and with Kamara looking like a 2 team battle, he could snatch that spot pretty quick.

If Jefferson decides to be a Vol this summer, WR is done IMO.

IF Martin is already onboard at CB, IMO that leaves 1 spot left. Ordway, Brazil, Reynolds, and several others could grab that last spot fast.

I think he's a little further down the board than that. If he commits to UT it will probably sometime in December. We are in on some elite talent at RB and this staff is trying to build a stable of SEC caliber RBs. He will be a last resort type of player because we need to build quality depth across the board. Had he been a 2016 grad he would definitely be a take but given the fact that UT has taken huge risk on players of his caliber since 2010(none of which panned out) we just cant afford to take such a huge risk.

I have to disagree with the "his caliber not panned out" comment. I see him as DY but with a bit more speed. IMO DY has done well at UT. He has accounted for a lot of yards on special teams and has done alright on offense. Would not be surprised to see him do even better this year.

In a class hard on numbers we aren't taking a risk at a position that we don't need alot of players at.

Where does he play?

RB? Well we just signed 3 studs last year and have 1 commit with a big shot at landing Alvin Kamara to be the RB in the previous class that we missed on. I'm taking Kamara and Reid all day over Cottrell and Reid

WR? We all know the stacked numbers we have there and that we are not taking more than 2-3 WRs which we have Preston Williams and likely Van Jefferson taking possibly the only two spots unless another elite kid wants to be the 3rd guy.

There is no spot

He IS camping at TN and he will turn heads based on the fact that he is an exceptional athlete who likes to compete. No doubt we will hear a lot of praise his way coming out of the TN camp.

I agree, numbers are very tight, but I could see him being worth a spot if he returns every kick/punt and is occasionally used for quick screens, jet sweeps and reverses.

Does he have good hands, what about his agility, toughness, does he know the game. There are a few more questions I want to know about the kid. Now I know he can fly no question about that but so could leonard Scott vol fans. Him running at the camps is great for the kid a great exposure for him but I will trust the coaches and there opinion.
