Here's a list of rivals prospects that all had a 4.39 or faster on their rivals page (some rounded up to 4.4) for the class of 2010, how many do you recognize?
DO yourself a favor and trust your coaches.
Rivals 40 times are not very accurate at all. Rivals speaks to recruit. Recruit says, I am 5'11 and weigh 187LBS as of today. I ran a 4.37 yesterday. Rivals posts the info. Sometimes it is accurate and sometimes it's not. I would bet ALOT of kids claim 4.4 when they can't back it up.
Maybe coaches should just stop watching film and draft based on combine numbers.
LOL SPARQ does not use the same testing methods that the NFL combine does. The NFL does not test verticals by jumping on a mat that measures how long youre in the air. Thats why there was like 25 kids at the Opening that jumped over 40 inch verts. How many people did that in the NFL combine? Also you see offensive linemen running 4.6 and 4.7s. That is very rare at the NFL combine.
This is Daryl Rollins-Davis all over again.
Kid from Knoxville that runs in the 4.3s with very similar stats
140 attempts for 1990 yards (14.2 per carry) and 39 TDs

EDIT: I just dont care anymore.
The people thinking he is the best player in the country will be upset when he doesnt turn out to win the Heisman
What is the relation to him of localvol and steino, the dedication is above and beyond regular posters who just like a prospect. Just curious what it is? Not saying anything negative just wondering.
As I stated previously in this thread, I know the Cottrell's and Nathan well. My son plays for West with him. I've coached him and coached against him for years. For the record, I'm pretty in tune with his recruitment and I will not disclose all I know but there are going to be some good opportunities for him. I can say we've had about 15 different coaches at practice this week. And we'll have more next week looking at Nathan and a few other kids.
Also, I don't care if UT offers but I do know if they do, he probably will accept. I have seen a lot of HS ball in Knoxville and he is one of the more dynamic playmakers I've seen both offensive land defensively.
West has a good relationship with UT. In the last 3-4 years Mobley, Bullock and Underwood have gone there to play with varying degrees of success. So I feel very confident that UT will give him an honest look and if he gets an offer it will be well deserved. If he doesn't there will be no hard feelings from the Cottrell's or Nathan, he will have other opportunities.
