'15 TN ATH Nathan Cottrell

As I stated previously in this thread, I know the Cottrell's and Nathan well. My son plays for West with him. I've coached him and coached against him for years. For the record, I'm pretty in tune with his recruitment and I will not disclose all I know but there are going to be some good opportunities for him. I can say we've had about 15 different coaches at practice this week. And we'll have more next week looking at Nathan and a few other kids.

Also, I don't care if UT offers but I do know if they do, he probably will accept. I have seen a lot of HS ball in Knoxville and he is one of the more dynamic playmakers I've seen both offensive land defensively.

West has a good relationship with UT. In the last 3-4 years Mobley, Bullock and Underwood have gone there to play with varying degrees of success. So I feel very confident that UT will give him an honest look and if he gets an offer it will be well deserved. If he doesn't there will be no hard feelings from the Cottrell's or Nathan, he will have other opportunities.

Best of luck. Put in the work and let the chips fall as they may

What is the relation to him of localvol and steino, the dedication is above and beyond regular posters who just like a prospect. Just curious what it is? Not saying anything negative just wondering.

I don't know the kid at all. I just got tired of the hate for no reason. :eek:k:

I dont really see the hate that you see. I see a lot of people questioning him based on a few variables. I see you blasting his SPARQ everywhere and seems like you think that makes him better than everyone else. And in response to that, I see people saying that test results arent everything. Yeah, hes a great athlete but, atm, it seems like these schools are also questioning his abilities or whether he fits in their scheme or not.

Exactly. I said the same thing, a page or two back, but it's still, "dey hate mane"

Plus you said countless. I count 5 on your list that say 4.3.

The search was for 4.39 or faster and rivals doesn't use the hundredth.

It's gonna be hard to find data since 40 times are rarely accurate on recruiting databases, so well just agree to disagree.

Committed to the Dallas Cowboys. They have also announced that due to the signing of the best rb in the nation regardless of classification that Demarco Murray has been released.

This. There really is no hate going on. People getting hostile

Also, I haven't seen anyone wishing him ill-will at all. I wish him nothing but the best wherever he ends up. Kid's one hell of an athlete. If he does the work and earns the offer then great.

I don't care if he goes to UT or not. But your asinine statement about SPARQ scores is plain stupid. No one is saying coaches' evaluations don't matter. The SPARQ score is an athletic measurement. And Nathan is off the charts. There is a direct correlation as was intended when they developed the test.

Long list of bad SPARQ scores in the NFL. There is more to athletics than numbers and non contested running. Put on pads and add defenders then give him a SPARQ score and I might care about it.

Kid may be great, may not be, I have never seen him play. I do however trust the coaches to decide who is better for our team.

Lots of people were saying pass, and they didn't want him. That he was not D1 material, he was white, level of competition, from E.Tenn. I'll bet he has 5-10 D1 offers by the end of the summer. :hi:

Level of competition???????? Answer me this, "this past season" could Knoxville Webb have beaten Knoxville West?????

Now now, let's not bring things like that into the discussion. TKJr had more stars by his name. His competition did not matter. :)

TK went to camp and EARNED offers from the elite. If Cottrell goes out and does the same, we'll know that level of competition doesn't matter in this case either. There's not some imaginary blanket that disallows kids who don't play in the best competition to get high level offers. The correlation between level of competition and whether or not kids earn offers is a case by case basis. For example, TK and Stewart performed well against their competition and then went out and EARNED an offer, while some kids put up world beater numbers against lesser competition and just don't earn any high level offers-- which is generally contingent upon how they perform at school specific camps.

Let's just wait and see how this one plays out. No one should say this is the top athlete in the nation, but no one should also write him off as having an FCS ceiling, yet either.

No knock on Tk, just saying im tired of the whole Tennessee competition thing. If you can play then it does not matter.

I was in no way knocking TKJr either. I don't buy into the whole "look at the competition" thing. All a kid can do is show out vs the kids lined up across from him. NC has attended camps and has shown out at those as well. Sometimes being the best looking athlete at the camp. His invitation to The Opening supports that as well. I look forward to seeing how it all plays out.

As soon as Cottrell shows out at Tennessee's camp... I really believe CBJ and staff are going to start looking a little closer at ways to get him. You simply cannot ignore the kid's sheer speed. If nothing else, he would be a huge weapon returning kicks.

As much as I would love to see him in Orange, I just don't see a situation where he would get a committable scholarship offer now.
