'15 TN CB Ugo Amadi

If you are not concerned with LSU coming in and stealing our #2 prospect then continue to scratch and pray.

Most of us take solace that we have the #5 recruiting class and that we are in on guys like Allen, Walker, Love, & Jones. Last I checked we have a lot of highly touted kids from other states. I wonder what their state schools think about us coming in and 'stealing' their recruits. If Phillips goes to LSU, it will hurt but it won't be the end of the world.

This is what I have been thinking. We still have a chance to finish with a fantastic class

LSU is a better program right now than UT....that's a fact. Kids nowadays are not concerned with the tradition of a school like UT. Majority of the kids just care about wins and losses. These commits have grown up during one of the worst decades in UT football history. They have never seen a good UT football team in person probably....but hey if you want to blame Butch and company for that then go right ahead. They're recruiting their asses off and if you can't see that than I feel sorry for you.

We have a good class but he's not wrong

I guess some of you guys would rather have these in state guys than Tuttle and K mac. Would love to have Martin and Phillips but I want the players with the best potential to do great things here rather than guys who are only from Tennessee. This class would not be great just getting players from Tennessee. If you step back, I think most of you will see this.

I'd rather go into other states and get highly rated talent then over value kids in tn because they are in tn. College is about becoming a man and doing something independently. I don't understand why most of these kids even play for the instate schools to be honest.

Although the class will be fine, landing top tier instate talent is important.

This. Anyone trying to spin this into not such a big deal is lying to themselves.

It's not a class breaker or anything like that but if we miss on Martin, KP and Ugo down the stretch...well that's bad news.

Butch has made all 3 priorities and took over as lead recruiter for a reason.

Why is instate talent a big deal? I don't get it. Recruiting well in other states says more about your program. If they don't want to go to UT, good for them. Good luck. Let'sget Walker and Love and Allen all out of state mind you.

Lying to themselves is what VN does best.

My prediction:
Tuesday Amadi picks LSU. The butt hurt is strong in Volnation. The Amadi and Phillips threads blow up with the typical I told you so's and kid bashing. Amadi sits back quietly and smiles because he knows what's really happening. On Saturday the whole world expects Phillips to pick LSU and he drops a bomb by picking TN. Shortly after, Amadi flips to join his buddy at TN. Both rofl because they just pulled off the troll job of the year.

Then the come here to read what people said about them and realize our fan base is crazy and flip back to LSU.

:)

You make a valid point here are a few things that make it important:
In-state kids are more likely to stick. I'd be interested on stats on this but kids that travel across the country are more likely to get homesick.

There's a lot of 'pipeline' value. When you recruit and place kids locally you build a good rapport (sp??) with their coaches. Their future players are then more likely to come. When you're landing players from 500 miles away the odds the next kid that comes through that high school being interested in UT is a lot lower than a local player.

There's also a bigger momentum impact to losing a local player. If you miss on a kid on the other side of the country it doesn't reflect as poorly as when you miss on a local kid.

There's probably more. Even with all that said, recruiting nationally is also very important and recruiting in-state isn't the be all and end all. If UT lands a great class but misses on a few big in-state kids I won't cry too much about it.

I am not lying to myself, but I do not see this as a big deal. Not all players are going to fit into the scheme that UT plays. The coaches have to project how these high school kids will play in college in 3 - 4 years.

LB's who excell in a 3-4 and maybe top 10 in the state might not be for us. Also, our needs at one position such as QB, might mean we have to ingore a highly rated instate prospect at another position of less need to make the numbers work. Another possible scenario, we might have a kid who is #xy or z instate and ranked maybe 30ish nationally, but we have a kid from NC that plays the same position is ranked #3 in the country that commits to the VOLS. Occasionally, we are going to lose a few recruiting battles too.

As long as we win more good recruits than we lose and keep having good recruiting classes I feel the results will show up on the field. As long as our inexperience at handling post season hubbub does not mess us up, I think our recruits from 2014 start to show this at the bowl game.

That said I hope we get Amadi, Phillips, and Martin. If they do not want to be VOLS then so be it. At least they wont be homesick next this time next year.

At which point LSU has filled there spots... So they both end up homeless in Louisiana.

After years of living on the street and begging for money they do a 30 for 30 special on them. Butch Jones then brings them both in as freshmen even though they are in their early 30 and they lead the team to 4 straight national championships. Then they run for President and Vice President.

That's how I see it going down anyway... Just my humble opinion!

So....I guess a class ranked from 6-10 is just....average!?? You're really talking out of your ass today Catbone.

We will have to see where we end up but I would rather finish with a BOOM than a thud. None of the TN 3 is definitely a non-boom.

With Boulware taking visits and Harbaugh coming back to Michigan I am feeling a lot more thud than boom.
