'15 TN CB Ugo Amadi

This. Anyone trying to spin this into not such a big deal is lying to themselves.

It's not a class breaker or anything like that but if we miss on Martin, KP and Ugo down the stretch...well that's bad news.

Butch has made all 3 priorities and took over as lead recruiter for a reason.

There's a lot of anti-Tennessee in mid and west TN. Until we start winning consistently, we'll continue to see this trend.

We will have to see where we end up but I would rather finish with a BOOM than a thud. None of the TN 3 is definitely a non-boom.

With Boulware taking visits and Harbaugh coming back to Michigan I am feeling a lot more thud than boom.

So, in the hypothetical situation that was presented to you in which we land a top 10, borderline top 5 class, you'd be upset that we got too many good players committed early in the process instead of late?

Why is instate talent a big deal? I don't get it. Recruiting well in other states says more about your program. If they don't want to go to UT, good for them. Good luck. Let'sget Walker and Love and Allen all out of state mind you.

Among the other reasons mentioned about the importance of instate recruiting, one of the biggest is it makes out of state recruiting easier. When you have good instate talent and can lock that down and/or early it lets you focus time and money on the out of state recruits. That's one reason it is so often mentioned as an advantage to have a great instate talent pool. Of course that leads to relationships with instate high schools and continues the process making it easier and easier. As mentioned and shown in this last class. These instate kids seem to stay at a much higher rate and have more passion to win here, just as you would. Plus a lot of us take pride in seeing hometown boys winning for the home team. No one is saying take less talented TN boys over more talented guys just because they are in state. When you can fill a third or half of your class with hometown talent evey year it make the class that much better and easier to fill. This is just the tip of the iceberg on how important instate talent is, and Phillips and Martin are elite talent no matter where they are from. Amadi is no slouch either.

LSU is a much better program than UT over the past decade. Can't blame kids that want to play for proven winners.

UT is clearly progressing and Les Miles isn't getting younger.

You don't go to a program for what they did two years ago.

What in the hell does Harbaugh coming back to Michigan have to do with our recruiting class?

He used to always tell me

"Don't borrow trouble"

Things are rolling and some of yall want to go back to "what if this happens".

You really think that continues? You think KP actually plays for Miles for 4 years? I don't. They were 8-4 this yr. UT was about 5 Pts from being 8-4. UT is trending back up. What is LSU doing right now? They are not going to knock off Alabama at the top of that division.

This is a really dumb post though. Thuds and booms for UT bc harbaugh went to the Big Ten? What?

LSU had one down year and still had a record we would be doing back flips over, in the SEC West to boot.

The Tigers will be back in 2015 and 2016. This idea that they are somehow a has been program or on the verge of collapse is laughable.

So....I guess a class ranked from 6-10 is just....average!?? You're really talking out of your ass today Catbone.

I never said it was average ya knucklehead. It IS better than average. But ranking isn't even the point here. We could sign ten 5 star quarterbacks and end up first place. My point is we need some quality depth on DE and CB because of these transfers. Also the only thing talking out of my ass is that chili I had last night.

I agree with you but will point out that a few years ago the SEC west and SEC champion usually was the winner of the LSU/Bama game. I see the Auburn/Bama game being that game now.

This last class was a special case and we recruited to reflect that. We did not have those relationships beforehand, Dooley made sure of that. We can make the same relationships with schools and coaches out of state like we have done in Georgia.

Filling your class with hometown talent does not necessarily make your class better it may in fact make you lazy.

Pride is what it comes down to. You people need to realize college is a destination and a lot of people what a change of scenery. You want to be that change of scenery, to be the destination. That is the mark of a champion.

We got a bunch of butt hurt jack a**es in this thread. "A highly touted instate kid is going to commit elsewhere! Oh no, we suck again!"

Simmons is a Vandy guy who really hates the Vols. The CB is wishful thinking on his part.

I never said I liked the guy, but he is respected. He gets a majority of his predictions right. At least he isn't Swain who picks the Vols every single time no matter who it is.

Never said they were a has been.

What I said was completely true though. UT is getting better and Les Miles may not even be there by the time they are seniors. Not too hard to comprehend.
