There's too much distance between Tennessee and Oregon to worry about that. Most parents can't afford to fly to Oregon on Saturday from here to watch their kid play. Don't see them as a recruiting threat at all.
Under Fulmer, we regularly pulled kids from CA. Some parents encourage their kids to fly from the nest. Oregon is an attractive program with lots of money. I think they could easily become a recruiting threat if they make a habit of recruiting TN kids. I think you're underestimating their appeal.
I wasn't arguing. They are definitely appealing to kids. I just think distance plays a role.Oregon's roster this year has 10 kids from the SE. They also have several Texas kids. I won't argue back and forth, but their in the NC picture quite often and they're backed by the CEO of Nike. Would it be my school of choice? No, but I certainly understand the appeal it has. They have the ability to chase any recruit they want. When you have Nike money backing you, money is not an obstacle.
And there have been more Vols from the West Coast. Kevin Burnett was a CA kid. I believe Donte Stallworth was a CA kid. Wasn't Mahelona from the West Coast? And JT Mapu? And it seems like there we a couple of OL that came from the West Coast. Fulmer worked the West Coast with regularity.

He screwed himself out of not being a Vol. Wasn't getting a second chance. Good luck to him

That is a not so bright arugument. Reality is not many recruits want to go that far away from home, money for the parents is an issue, and they don't recruit the se a ton. I doubt they are marking tn as their destination state in the south in terms of recruiting hot bed. We have had a rise in top level talent but let's not kidd ourselves by saying that schools to the far west have marked us top priority. Beast. Never able to realize his true potential. Suffered a severe knee injury during the US Army All-Star gm and was oft-injured during his days at Tennessee and still played @ the next level.
De La Salle is one of the countries premiere programs. Though only there a short time hope Mac's signing will (re) open that connection.
