'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Hope Dylan decides not to take other visits. DE is one position where the staff seems to have a lot of options still today IF they needed to take a commitment from another one. I want to see Jackson end up in Orange. If he decides to take some trips, his spot being up for grabs is just how it goes. Be careful Mr. Jackson.

His spot isn't up for grabs. He is and was a high priority for this staff

Hope not.

A kid who is committed, I like to think their spot is safe. A kid taking visits, IMO maybe not so much. Probably depends on how the board looks at that position. IMO DE/possible OT is not ones to play around. The staff is turning away some pretty good talent at both positions right now.

Maybe a quick call squashes it all. "If you want to consider other options Dylan, we will need to as well".

Then see what he wants to do.

I know the staff doesn't like it when commitments take other visits but it sounds like Dylan Jackson just wants to get a taste of some other places and have some fun on a visit or two. It's hard to fault him for that but he does need to keep the staff very well informed of his intentions and thought process because the class is getting full and Tennessee has a lot of options left. He needs to be careful not to be sending mixed signals a la Kevin Mouhon.

This. It sounds like he just wants to see some new places and is taking advantage of the chance he has to do it.

Think about it, Dylan can recon what other schools are offering in terms of facilities, academics, their C(ardinal)FL / T(iger)FL/ B(ammer)FL programs and have a good laugh at dey azzes

If he does take other visits ,he just may lose his place in the Orange Line for Class 2015

Bump for giggles

You think I'm funny?! What? Do I look like a effin clown to you?
Seriously, I bleed orange so if I were recruited by UT I wouldn't need another visit at all but I understand the kids situation to a certain extent. Go play the game and have fun but stay loyal to your commitment.

You wouldn't take a free trip to a few other schools just to compare and ultimately confirm your decision?

Always risky for a prospect to do that. See Kevin Mouhon last year. Not saying it would happen here but it does happen with some guys.

I would not.

I would not make my decision until I had already confirmed where I wanted to be. If I were "committed", a free trip would not change that for me.

Right. But, just "in a vacuum," or whatever, it's fine to take all your visits. It doesn't mean you aren't dedicated to a school or a "vfl."

But you'd take all your officials.

edit: ...if you needed to to make your decision.

Mouhon de commiting was more of a mutual decision made by both parties more than anything

Had Kevin not taken the trip to Cinci and wanted to be a Vol do I think the UT staff allows him to sign as a Vol? I do. When a committed kid decides to take trips, his spot is always in jeopardy.

Pretty hard to sell the idea of "committed" when you're on another schools campus trying to enjoy yourself. JMO

"Always" risky for a prospect to do that is a stretch, but it can probably lead to pressure from a staff.

His HS senior film wasn't that impressive. Apparently he was too slow to play in the SEC. Butch isn't going to lose a recruit to Cinci of all places

That's a choice each kid has to make for himself. If you want to wait and take all the free trips, you may not have a spot. If I were actually unsure of where I wanted to play ball and needed to wait, I would. Taking the free trips just to take them all along claiming "I'm committed" is a bad idea IMO. If your committed, act like it. You want to play the recruiting game, you may be left behind. Dylan takes some visits and IMO his spot is very much up for grabs.

What should a kid do if he's "acting like he's committed" and the coaches are still offering guys at his spot as backup plans, alternates, depth in the class, etc.?

I don't think his spot is up for grabs.
