'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Hate to bring everyone into reality but LSU is a better offer than UT.

Reality is that you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Jackson left only because he was told truthfully he wouldn't get a shot on the defensive line. It has nothing to do with a traditional worse school record, championship, and history wise being the 'better school'. Stay in the football forum with your imaginary reality.

If jackson to LSU means Phillips to UTK then Im ok with it.

Jackson is good but he doesn't have the speed and quickness that some others that Tennessee are after has. I think he could be a good DE but I also think if he's serious about playing that position he should go to Stanford and not LSU.

While I don't really follow LSU at all roster wise, they do have (1) DE committed for 2015. They took (3) in 2014, and (5) in 2013. LSU and developing DE's has never seemed to be an issue at all.

You're right. LSU always get and development good DLineman, Secondary players and RB's. I just don't understand why LSU always has QB problems. Harris was highly recruited and is just a TR FR so it's too early on him but J.Russel had the potential but for some reason never played to his potential, Jennings is aweful, Zack M. Was the best they have had in a decade but he was a transfer. You would think as talent rich as Louisiana is getting elite QB's shouldn't be hard. Yes they are a power run team but when they had a guy who could really throw it in Mettenberger they threw it a lot with him. If they had a QB this yr they would have hada a few more wins and still had Ala beat with sorry a$$ Jennings at QB.

Russell was very good in college. He was just terrible in the pros because he's a knucklehead and Oakland is a dumpster fire. Jennings has started about 4 more games in his career than Dobbs and had extremely young skill people around him in the toughest division in football. Its way too early to call him terrible.

He's pretty terrible. Harris will be starting by next season, atleast that's the consensus. Russell was a model for inconsistency in college. One week he would play great then look like hell the next week. But he did have one of the strongest arms I have seen on a college player. Not to mention LSU has a great OC, unlike us.

What's going on?

Well, to summarize, after 3 consecutive 5-7 seasons, we just qualified for a bowl game for the first time since 2010, we're on the verge of signing our second consecutive top 5 recruiting class (all signs point to that becoming a routine occurrence with this staff), our defense is becoming dominant, our HC just spurned his home state school (which happens to be one of the most storied programs in the history of college football) to sign a raise and an extension with us, and we have rising young stars all over the field. I think that should just about bring you up to speed.

Picked up a cb to vandy

I saw that. I don't think he has any Interest in that dumpster fire. He has better options. The cb was made by a vandy mod though go figure. Their recruiting is in desperation mode right now. It's bad. They should get a 2 star JUCO Qb on Thursday with offers from New Mexico and Vandy. They will have 10 awful QBs with zero playmakers.

Good post. I think he gets it. I know I do.

I'm buying into what you are selling except I don't think Michigan ever seriously considered CBJ.

I just don't understand why LSU always has QB problems.

Some hits and quite a few misses, some bad evaluation, add in there bad luck and other....Crowton ruined about 4-5 years of LSU's offense and QB development.

Russell - Everyone knows the story, good-great college QB, not a good pro
Flynn - Good solid college QB, was in the program for 5 years
Perillioux - Kicked off team, had potential to be a great QB... the kid blew it
Lee - Wild ride, I think he had the talent but he played for Crowton... no development
Jefferson - Big windup in his throwing motion... limited football IQ... playing for Crowton... no development
Zack Lee - LSU put a lot of eggs in one basket and got burned, he signed a baseball contract
Mett - good college QB, progressed every game until the last game... ended up probably the best or close to last year
Jennings - poorly evaluated, should not be in the NCAA
Harris - has shown skills most guys don't have, to early to tell if it will work out

Poorly evaluated:
Stephen Rivers
Chris Garrett
Russell Shepard - ended up playing some WR
Jerrard Randall
Anthony Jennings

Grades
Jeremy Liggins - eventually signed with Ole Miss

To me the biggest hits to the QB position at LSU was Perillioux getting kicked off in 2008 and Zack Lee signing a baseball contract, Lee could have been a 5th year senior in 2014.

The only guy that I think could have been developed on their roster... was Jarrett Lee, he played for Crowton and Crowton has been fired 2-3 times since being canned at LSU.

I believe that Jackson, Amadi and Phillips all end up at LSU. With Amadi and Phillips wanting to be a package deal and Phillips talking about playing with Jackson next year, the common denominator for all 3 is LSU.
