'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

This actually makes me happy cause I think this means we got good news on either Phillips or Walker and both of them are great players... Now I hope those rumors of letting Zach Stewart go aren't true

This is what i think. They got good news from Phillips or Walker or both or became brutally honest with Jackson as an OT.

LSU might need DEs more than UT right now. They have zero bodies and zero pass rush. If they are so awesome why don't they have any DEs on campus right now?

While I don't really follow LSU at all roster wise, they do have (1) DE committed for 2015. They took (3) in 2014, and (5) in 2013. LSU and developing DE's has never seemed to be an issue at all.

Thin skin, he gets paid for his opinion. You have the option to follow or not follow him, or go into journalism.

He doesn't get paid for his opinion. He gets paid for being a clickbait hack. I don't follow him for that very reason. That, and he always comes off as a snarky douche.

It's tough to call the job Rucker does journalism. Or 95% of sports writers. And probably 85% of media in general.

Guys this is a case of trimming the fat. I myself prefer the other DE/OLB prospects in this class. The issue here is everyone told him he'd likely play OT but UT. Saban does like him in the 3-4 defense as does Chief in the 4-3 but no need for concern.

Chavis should grow his Afro back

Yeah, that is why UT signed 3 elite DTs and LSU can't get one. Take a look at the recruiting rankings, bub.

LSU is on tDecline.
Have you seen what LSU is returning on defense? Obviously not.
So you are comparing overall program status by this recruiting cycle and ignoring, say, the last 10 years? Brilliant.

Starters
Rasco - Senior, could make a NFL team or practice squad
Hunter - Good possibility he declares for the draft

Backups
Bower - Sophomore, has shown potential.
Clark - Freshman, limited so far, some potential.
Teuhema - Freshman, has shown that could be an excellent speed rush specialist.
Patterson - Freshman, lacks size and strength.
Neal - Sophomore, lacks size... has gotten snaps at both DE and DT.

Powder Puff Football Squad
Maclin - At least he is finally a Senior.

Not DEs but were sometimes reported as DEs on scouting sites.
Thomas
Herron - Mostly likely an inside guy but might not be with the program long.
Godchaux - Starting DT
Lacouture - Starting DT

Due the lack of size/length of Neal and Patterson, LSU will take 3-4 DEs this year if they are available. There is definitely an opportunity for playing time next year if a true freshman is ready, this would be compounded if Hunter leaves.

As far as the rest of the D, overall in good shape, but need to see who declares. I would say if all but Hunter stays then a repeat of the #1 SEC D is a definite possibility.

zero pass rush
I somewhat agree on paper the pass rush was lacking but many of the teams are now running spread with a mobile QB, pass rush is not as essential as it once was. LSU actually teaches the rushes to stay in their assignments, which is why LSU probably makes more teams pay when they go the screen or WR screen route. The rushers are actually sometimes told to not rush... watch what LSU did against Johnny Football.

LSU was probably the best pass defense in the country by efficiency, early on the middle was weak against the run though... Beckwith fixed that issue.

What you are watching is by design.

Of course, the bad QB play I hope is not by design. :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

He played 15 games this year and had 4 sacks. Maryville jumped up on every team except Ravenwood and he could only manage 4 sacks with every team he faced having to pass the ball.

Why is that?

They usually are busts and more the product of the system. I think Quarles could coach a team full of girls into a state championship.

I'm not saying Jackson is a bust as he is prob best player since Douglas to come out. Just saying that's why he probably said that. Douglas would have been really good but just in to too much bad stuff. Jackson will probably be successful as he isn't really from TN and a good kid.
