'15 TN DT/OL Zach Stewart (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Haha he got hype. Crazy that Stewart's offer list was as small as it was. He's very athletic for his size, and a prototypical guard. With his athleticism and strength he can ball out here.

it was bc he basically shut it down and told schools he wasnt interested. He was all vol from the jump. he def was recruited. he just didnt give it the time of day.

Eager to see this kid develop. I think adjusting to playing against SEC grown men will be a challenge early on, but he looks to have all the tools to be a good one. Love his strength and athleticism.

I'm about to be a buzzkill...

It's great seeing these guys lift crazy amounts of weight, but it doesn't do them any good if they aren't also working on their cardio. I think these guys get really fired up about setting personal records and hitting big milestones on weights (like 500 lb bench and 600 lb squat), but are they getting excited about running and cardio? I think that was one of the keys to Barnett's success as a freshman. He worked out with the track team as a senior in HS, did a lot of running, and, as a result, he came in with great stamina and endurance.

Guys like McKenzie and Tuttle obviously have the strength and explosiveness to be very good early on, but the thing that has the potential to hold them back (aside from injuries or poor technique) is that cardio/stamina piece. They may be monsters on the first couple of snaps of a drive, but how effective will they be on the 8th and 9th? How effective will they be in the 4th quarter when they've played 30+ snaps? Hearing that McKenzie has been running his ass off and lost a lot weight would excite me (no homo) much more than a video of him benching 550.

Yep once a local kid that grew up a fan commits early any potential offers from others aren't wasted unless there is reason to believe they won't fit into the numbers like Dylan Jackson situation. I think he also is at a really small school not known for producing d1 players so that probably had some to do with it too

Won't matter in 2015 like it did in 2014 due to depth. 2014 was played with basically 3 DT's. 2015 will rotate5-6. They might need to work on their sprint to the sideline when they are being subbed but they'll have plenty of time to recover before returning to action.

Barnett played way more snaps per game then KM and ST will see. I'll bet Barnett won't see as many snaps per game in 2015 either as the depth at DE has also improved.

That's a good point, but I still think it's something they need to be working on.

He needs to be running the stairs while carrying that 500 lb weight. :good!:

It's a video of him benching 500 lbs. Videos of linemen running probably aren't as cool to watch. Just a guess though.

I heard Danny O'Brien cut back from 2 packs to 1 pack....should pay huge dividends!

No, in all seriousness, I see your point of being in shape and building endurance. Endurance training seems like it would create a lot of weight loss. Kahlil needs to lose some no doubt.

We should still celebrate this young VFLs accomplishment instead of finding some irrelevant bullsh*t to ***** about. Be proud of his hard work and quit trying to find something negative in every situation. I'm also pretty sure Khalil has his own thread to post the insecure worries in.

Seems like we've improved in that area though a lot since Lawson got here. During Dooley's time here it seemed we got tired a lot late in games; this team shows a lot of fight even if they aren't winning now. I haven't seen linemen nearly as physically exhausted lately.

So what you're saying is he needs to work on his 400 time?

The guy was holding the bar. Part of truly bench pressing that amount of weight is maintaining balance without a spotter's assistance.

It is a very impressive accomplishment that took lots of hard work and dedication, and I agree, it should be celebrated.

Shouldn't have worried...that didn't kill any buzz whatsoever.
