15 TN QB Matt Williams

Our class is most likely gonna be very small in 2015. Not saying your wrong but I am of the opinion that we might not have room to take two scholarship QBs in 15.

They may not have a choice but to take 2. Worley will be a SR and what if Peterman leaves? That just leaves 2 scholly QB's if we dont get one this class.

In my opinion this is a fall back option if we swing and miss on the rest of our targets. I don't think that will be the case, so this likely won't be an issue.

I tend to agree with this. I do think they'll take 2 QB's in '15. They almost have to. Worley will be gone, and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the two underclassmen QB's that dont win the starting nod to transfer.

If anybody transfers I think it is Peterman. Dobbs' major of Aerospace Engineering is probably harder to find at a lot of schools.

Take whatever evaluation you want to. Just knowing the situation and watching last year is all I need to know. It is Tyler Bray 2.0. BIG arm, and that is all. Not much in the leadership/mental toughness area.

I know nothing about the kid just gets old on local kids how there I always that guy that comes out and talks about how he sucks no matter who it is.

Somebody mentioned once that if JD was to transfer (which, for the record, I strongly doubt will happen), Georgia Tech would likely be his landing place. I could definitely see it. Great academics/engineering school, option offense that he would excel in, and close proximity to his folks.

Still don't think it happens, though, even if RF gets the nod over him.

I understand, but that's not what is happening here. I would love to see as many local kids play college ball that can. I believe that he will have opportunities to play, but I hope it's not at UT and I wish him well.

NFL Combine training program and school jumping definitely make this kid (or his parents) sound suspicious. :ermm:

The superior talents go through additional trainig programs like that. Especially if his school is small, they probably lack good facilities and knowledge to develop the kids

I agree, I think this is one of our QB's next year. Williams can be the pro style QB and we'll take a dual threat like Stidham or Nunez. IMO.

I think that may be the plan. I do think Stidham goes to baylor and Nunez goes to osu. I agree with the posters earlier in this thread that Jennings could very well be the DT guy the staff zeros in on.

Here's a thought.. probably going to get blasted for this but it is a possibility:

what if Butch is going the route Saban and Co. does and is offering QB's to come camp and we take the best 1-2 of the lot? Just a thought

With (2) Elite 11 guys already on the roster plus a SR who could very well start next year, I think the staff would be well advised to find a QB they like, offer, and if he wants to commit, take him and move on. Coming off a losing season I would not be naive enough to think I can bring in the top 5 QBs in the 2015 class and then get my choice. We are not there yet.

good points. But I will say, with Butch and this staff, anything is possible!

Wow, he has outstanding touch, keeps calm in the pocket (seems his O-line sucks), and can run when needed. Want! His touch is almost Manning or Brady like...that is relative to his age and competition.

Edit: He also checks through his options. He doesn't stare down receivers, and did I mention he puts the ball right where it needs to be. I am really impressed with his film. What gives?

Horrific competition.

He also doesn't make throws on the run or outside of the pocket, IIRC from the film. It's been awhile since I've watched it.

I saw him make several throws outside the pocket, on the run. Guess it's the competition, but he shows the skills regardless. It's not like he has all day in the pocket...seems to be getting pressure every play and his receivers are not wide open all the time.

I say one throw on the move and it was a good throw. He got a chance to play at Blackman, didn't do very well, and got overtaken by a QB that was decent, so that speaks volumes to me.

He does have a strong, accurate arm though.

Do not agree with this at all. The way we are recruiting right now says otherwise. Especially when coupled with the weapons we have at WR in North, Malone, Pearson, the #1 WR in the country that would be in the same recruiting class as the QB. Plus no QB being taken in this recruiting class. I think we have the opportunity to be picky and will have lots of interest by big time QBs. JMO.

I did not see some of that, at all. He certainly throws a nice ball with air under it on fly patterns and fade patterns. That was basically all his throws. No timing throws. No deep out patterns. No comback routes. No crossing routes. What we do not know is if that is simply a product of the offensive system or the coaches understanding of what he is and is not good at. I rarely ever saw him go through a progression on his routes. Of course, the competition was pitiful and the primary WR was open almost 100% of the time. I think he most likely has an offer to come to camp and throw in front of the coaches with an opportunity to earn an full offer.

If you want a guy to throw fades to open receivers, he is your guy. Does not handle pressure well (and I'm not just talking about pass rush pressure). Reads and progressions are not his strong suit. He'll show well at camps/combines, 7-on-7's, etc. Game speed situations/pressure are where he starts to get shaky. If any of his Blackman film is out there, that is what I would look at to see similar competition.

QB recruiting and WR recruiting are very different. Only 1 QB usually plays at a time. Top WR recruits can see that after North, there is PT available at WR. The fact we have 2 Elite 11 guys waiting their turn behind Worley does not set up well for a kid coming in now. What I expect to happen in 2014 is Worley starts and Ferguson will be the back up. Dobbs will then redshirt unless injury forces him into action. A 2015 QB coming in could very well be looking at holding down the bench for 2-3 years. You won't find many top QBs willing to do that unless you are playing for national titles.

Lebanon, I couldn't agree with you any more! The only thing I think differently is I think Ferg has a better than avg shot at starting, if not....Worley is our guy again. This is the reasoning I think taking a guy like Jauan Jennings is the best case scenario. It will give him time to develop the skills he is lacking.

Playing devil's advocate. If Worley ends up being our guy, doesn't that signal to the elite guys that Ferg and Dobbs probably aren't as good as we thought. This would give the staff an opening with those top guys to say they could come in and compete for the job right away.
