Is UT even pursuing him hard right now? Been a while since he was brought up.
Love or Vaughn? IMO I'd go with in the instate Vaughn. JMO
Love. You go instate if your evals are close or go with guy that maybe has a teammate or teammates you love coming up next few classes. love has always been up top of the staffs wish list and has a spot no matter what if he wants one. Love also has a big time prospect as teammate in next class
And Love is not close to the RB prospect Vaughn is.
Vaughn is talented enough to play on Sundays one day.
I hope to goodness he becomes a Vol. he reminds of Jay Graham
It depends on who you ask, I'd say there are a lot of people on this board who prefer Love to Vaughn and think he's the better prospect. I like them both, but I prefer Vaughn as well. They both have different strengths and playing styles. Love has elite speed and quickness and could be good a big time mismatch out of the backfield in the passing game imo, but he needs to get stronger and add some bulk. Vaughn has better size and makes better cuts imo but doesn't have the speed that Love has, but is still a fast guy, he's also got good balance.
At the end of the day, we need a RB with elite speed to play behind Hurd. We need a RB who can play in and out of their cuts without slowing down. We need a RB who comes in the game and replaces Hurd and everyone says, "Oh man, here X comes, and if he gets the edge he's gone". We don't have a RB like that behind Hurd. Now, is Perry that RB for us? He's fast, but he's more of a slot WR prospect aka PIG 2.0 IMO. So, you have a dilemma, do you hope that Perry can return to 100%, which he about has IMO, and allow him to fill the spot of elite speed back, or do you go after Love and take a chance of losing Perry or not signing a guy like Vaughn?
IMO, I'd take Love, Perry, Vaughn, and Kamara. Losing Reid will suck, I like him a lot, but I also like getting TN recruits and locking down our state. I'd go into the season with Perry as a slot WR, Love as a 3rd down RB who can catch and run the ball, and Kamara/Vaughn as my every down backs in case Hurd goes down. Hurd and Kamara would get the bulk of the carries, and Love would come in as a change of pace back with elite speed. I'd try to redshirt Vaughn, and I'm not sure what this would mean for Scott. I also don't see us taking two slot WRs, Perry/Bruce, so something had to give there as well. I'll add that Perry is friends with Ugo and Phillips and fills a need...

I am sorry but what you just said don't exist!!!!
DB in the SEC are just as fast as Love and if you think he can just catch the edge and out run everyone your crazy! lol
I wouldn't compare Love to Demps. Love is fast, but Demps has world class speed.
I didn't compare them, I'm simply saying that those type RBs are out there. Rainey and Love probably run close to the same speed. Really small, and really fast. There's a lot more out there that we aren't even talkong about. Harvin was a guy that you could line up at RB and he could hit the edge and out run everyone. Love, Perry, etc aren't going to be true RBs here. We would line those guys up all over the field. Point being is, you can't say there's no RBs/players out there that can't out run entire defense, because there are. It was just two years ago our starting CB in Teague couldn't run down most DL. To say most starting DBs run forty times in the 4.3-4.4 range is crazy. I'd say we have 2-3 on our roster that could do that, but most DBs, especially FS/SS, in the SEC aren't close to that speed. The S players that are you can watch on Sunday's most the time, i.e. Berry, etc.
If we get out of the SEC there's even more guys to fit this model. Chris Johnson, Dri Archer, De'Anthony Thomas, etc. are all guys who could hit the edge and be gone.
