Point being is, you can't say there's no RBs/players out there that can't out run entire defense, because there are. It was just two years ago our starting CB in Teague couldn't run down most DL. To say most starting DBs run forty times in the 4.3-4.4 range is crazy. I'd say we have 2-3 on our roster that could do that, but most DBs, especially FS/SS, in the SEC aren't close to that speed. The S players that are you can watch on Sunday's most the time, i.e. Berry, etc.

If we get out of the SEC there's even more guys to fit this model. Chris Johnson, Dri Archer, De'Anthony Thomas, etc. are all guys who could hit the edge and be gone.

What about Hurd! Hurd runs close to a 4.3. Heck he is the fastest player on the team but i don't see Hurd out run DB's. Just sayin

currently that group of north carolina, vandy, purdue and ohio state are the main programs that vaughn is focused on with louisville and tennessee being two notable exceptions.

"i haven't really heard from tennessee in a while," he said of the volunteers.

with louisville it's what he's hearing that has vaughn discouraged. The cardinals have been very active on the recruiting trail, chasing running backs around the country, and vaughn hasn't been getting a consistent message.

We seem to have backed off other backs l. It's hard to tell what caused that. Is it word from the Love/Frasier camps or is it the RDA decision plus Love appearing to be a Vol lean. Is it RDA/Paulk return/ and love

I don't think Frasier is in play. He looks to be planning to stay instate. If the coaches plan to replace Reid as he is taking visits, I hope they replace him with a similar RB. I think Vaughn SHOULD be that guy. Vaughn's 4.45-4.5 at 210-215LBS would much better IMO fill needs at the RB position.

I'm thinking the coaches feel good about Love and Paulk will be reinstated after the season. All opinions of course.

Hurd isn't that fast in and out of his cuts, and that's why he never breaks plays lose for huge yardage. He also likes contact to much. He rather run over people, and I'm ok with that. He has a nice burst once he hits the edge, but he's not the type of RB to run 50+ yarders all the time. That's why so many people keep saying we need a small, very elusive RB to go along with Hurd's power running.

I think once the OL progresses and can actually get off blocks and to the 2nd level we will see Hurd break plays for longer runs. Hurd and 50 yarders will be very possible IMO once the OL improves.

He has the tools to do it, but at the same time I love seeing him run over people.

Agreed. Hurd is an absolute stud to put up the numbers he has with this oline. Worse oline in at least 20 years at ut.

Hurd has impressed the he!! out of me this year. IMO he has shown excellent strength, protected the ball well and maturity for his age. VERY excited to watch him in the years to come (especially in '16)..

Also WR and TE blocking downfield. There have been multiple runs this year by Players that were a Better downfield block away from 6. I thought pig was about to house that shovel pass vs. Mizzu but some WR missed the block

What's the latest on Paulk? I've seen dribs and drabs about him possibly, maybe, hopefully getting reinstated.

Why don't our highly paid coaching staff and specifically our really good rb coach Gillespie agree with you?
