Wow. From a VN stud to a bigtime recruit! Congrats JH!

Edit: I didn't read the first few pages. Wow there might be a connection

Actually iirc the Jackson Harris that posted on here was friends with this kids dad

The use of His name here in VN makes the whole situation one if the few times I would genuinely label something "creepy" on this board

Spent Friday and Saturday of last week in Clemson for the BC game. He's going to FSU in two weeks and hopes to get to UT sometime soon as well. Said he grew up a casual UF fan but doesn't view that as a potential factor in his recruitment. Has no order of favorites but really enjoyed his Clemson visit. Per Clemson rivals.

IMO as long as we land Jaason Lewis in 2015, we will have our TE for the class.

“That was my first game (at Tennessee), and I liked it[.] It was a good game. I liked the facilities, coaching staff. It was my first time really getting the feel of Knoxville. ... I’ve grown up around diehard Tennessee fans, so I always hear about it. It was kind of what I expected. It was a really good experience, and I enjoyed all of it.”

“Basically, what he told me was they’ve got so many people (committed) in 2014, and they only have, I think, 11 scholarships for 2015,” Harris said. “Basically, he’s telling me they’re really interested. He said they’re going to offer. It’s just kind of a matter of trying to get the situation of scholarships figured out before they go around offering everybody.”

“I’ve been in contact with them probably since camp, coming up there for camp,” he said. “I really like Coach Elder a lot. He’s a great guy and all. Being close to home, in-state school, it’s always there.

“They’re a good program and pretty close to home, in-state. That’s just one of those places that you kind of consider it your home team, I guess, so that’s a great option. They’re going to pretty good in a few years with these recruiting classes.”

He's hearing a lot from Louisville and Va Tech among other schools. Wants to be committed sometime in the summer after his JR year in HS, but that may change with the more schools that are apporoaching him.

Yup. If we take 30 this year, we have to be pushing the 85 scholly limit.

I wonder if the kid noticed that the staff has offered at least 4 other TEs already for 2015. I guess they already figured those ones out.

3 offers for TE already out and one already committed elsewhere. The other two we are pushing the rock uphill, so he may get an offer over the next few months.

From Rivals:

A number of other schools are coming after Harris and at this point in the process, the Tennessee native says that everyone is even when it comes to the battle for hi signature.
"Florida State, Tennessee, Clemson, Kentucky, and Ohio State are all recruiting me pretty hard," he said. "Those schools and maybe some other too. I'm sure there are others. I don't have a leader right now though. I'm wide open."
Claiming a leader isn't something Harris is ready to do just yet, but he does plan to make a decision in the not-so-distant future. The athletic tight end doesn't want to make any hasty decisions, but as a prospect that hopes to enroll next January, he understands his recruitment could be expedited.
"I wanted to decide this summer, but with all of these top schools coming around and all, I could see it going longer than that," Harris said. "I definitely don't want to rush it or anything, but at the same time I hope to graduate and enroll early so we will just have to see how it goes."

"It's definitely exciting, but kind of crazy. One month I'm talking to one or two coaches and the next week I have 11 offers. It's crazy but it's definitely a great experience.

Harris was on campus for Tennessee's contest against Auburn this past season and like what he experienced in Neyland Stadium. "I liked it. It's a huge stadium and a great atmosphere. I had never been to one and I was definitely surprised," Harris said.

Even though Tennessee has yet to offer Harris yet he still talks regularly with Vols' tight end coach Mark Elder as Elder dropped by Columbia Central High School during the open period in December. "They are just recruiting me and going through the process and we message a lot. He's a great guy and I like the way he coaches," Harris explained. "I like the coaching staff and I think they are interested because they still talk to me.

Even though Tennessee has yet to offer, Harris said he wouldn't consider them late to the party if they were to offer in the future unless he narrows his list. "The only way it would matter is if they offer me and I've already narrowed my list," Harris said. "I do plan on cutting it down to six or seven here in a few months. If they do come in it doesn't matter much because I've already seen them and have a relationship with them."

I'm a Columbia Alum. Played football with this kid's brothers and many I've talked to around town say that he is a bit of a Vandy lean at this point. Kid is very intelligent (as are his brothers) and he comes from a good family. I hope we manage to pull him (though I'm probably a bit biased)
