'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

“They’re very cool,” the Brentwood, Tenn., resident said. “Talking with Butch and coach Z and those guys, they’re really high energy. They really want me. I give them a look all the time. They’re just a great school. I know I can fit that offense very well.”

“I’m going to try to make my decision in the summer,” Jefferson said. “Me and my coach and my parents are going to get this list down. I’m going to make my decision from there.”

Will be an EE. His father visited Knoxville in the spring to meet with the coaches. If we win mom over, we will be tough to beat fwiw

Nothing but positives there. Love the EE fact as well.

That certainly is a valid point. I believe, however, that geography also plays a significant role this year. Elite quarterback prospects are disproportionately located in California and the PAC-12 has more programs on the upswing than has historically been the case. (Yes, I know that we have had good luck in recruiting quarterbacks from the left coast in the past, but it does not seem likely that we will land one from that area for this class.) On the other hand, there are comparatively few blue-chip qbs in this year's class from the Southeast. Stidham would have been an excellent candidate but Texas schools were lined up to fight over him.

It also seems like most QB's don't care as much about location as other positions. Next year, the west has great QB's as well. Number one QB in the nation looking more and more likely that he ends up in the SEC.

"I heard today that he plans on being in Knoxville visiting this weekend. I think with his mom and dad. Hopefully, Paul will verify this for us. If so, great to get him back on campus again!"

It's down to UGA and UT. Need a strong close here this weekend when he visits. Momma loved the UGA visit.

Father and Van loved his UT visit awhile ago. Blown away by our presentation for him in the offense. Both believe in Butch's plan and they like ZA and Thig a lot. Van has become good friends with Josh Malone, they talk a lot. Things are looking good here. Just gotta convince mom.

tOSU lol...not

This kinda feels like Malone where everyone counted us out and gave up on him then we came back out of nowhere to land him.

Last year's class was no fluke just bc of the legacies. This staff can cruit.

(Oh yeah I'm supposed to post something gay)

So, gotta be that guy.. you know somebody close to that situation?

Buck Fitzgerald basically just said the same thing on VQ. Said Butch could maybe seal the deal this weekend.

I have been hesitant to accept Woods was about to lose his spot. If they take Van, IMO it just about closes the door on Jaylond.

Preston Williams
Van Jefferson
Marquez North
Josh Malone
Lavon Pearson
Jason Croom
Kameel Jackson
Jaylond Woods (?)
Ryan Jenkins
Pig Howard

HOLY SH*T

Seriously, someone please tell me why we don't have several elite QBs foaming at the mouth begging to play for UT?

Only reasons I could guess.

1. A lot of recent 5 win seasons and no bowl games.

2. An unproven coaching staff on an SEC level. I keep telling myself in JW looks better this year and or Dobbs shows significant improvement, Top QBs will take notice.

Here's my point... 4 and 5 star players have been committing left and right for UT on every position except QB.
