'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

Here's my point... 4 and 5 star players have been committing left and right for UT on every position except QB.

Most of those kids knew coming in there was playing time available at just about every position. With Worley, Dobbs, and Fergs up until yesterday at QB, early QB playing time IMO was just not there for a TFR coming in.

I tell myself if I'm a recruit and am going to sit a couple years before I play, do I want to be a part of a 9-11 win team or a 5-6 win team? I love Tennessee, but I fully understand why top QBs are shying away.

I'd bet negative recruiting. QB's worry about depth charts more than any other position besides RB's. Even though we UT fan's know our QB situation isn't as great as it looks albeit it's still fine with Dobbs and Worley this year, I'd bet other programs are telling them about Ferg, Dobb's and Peterman...all ranked highly by the services and it's scaring away some QB's IMO.

Van Jefferson WR, 6-1/170, Brentwood, Tenn.

Jefferson visited the Vols earlier in the spring along with his father, Tennessee Titans wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson, and both came away impressed with receivers coach Zach Azzanni, especially the elder Jefferson. For the younger Jefferson, Tennessee is one of several teams sticking out right now, particularly the Vols and Ohio State.

Georgia is very much in the mix as well with Jefferson and a few other schools, like Clemson, South Carolina and Penn State, are possible visit destinations this summer. Jefferson has talked about a summer decision and Jefferson plans more summer visits before an eventual decision.

If they are only thinking of us as a 5-6 win team, they are not thinking about the impact of the '14 recruits and especially this years class in getting us to 9 plus wins each year. I believe the coaches are getting them to look beyond this next season to see what our potential is in '15 and beyond when these recruits will actually begin making serious contributions on the field. You can bet they are already using the game at Bristol as a history making game they can be part of if they come to UT.

I agree with you 100% the coaches have to be selling them on what COULD be and the future. It's just a matter of the top QBs buying into that and not looking so much at the losing seasons. Hopefully it takes a turn and the top QBs look at Tennessee the way they did not so long ago.

I think this kid is still under rated, and strong camp performances and a senior season may see him end up much higher in the rankings. One of the best

I agree and I think the progress our offense will show on the field this year will help in that area. Hopefully, Worley will continue to improve like he was prior to his injury and our running game becoming more dynamic will make it easier for us to attract elite players across the board.

He has a rating of 95 on 247 and is ranked in the top 100. That's pretty dang good IYAM! But I agree that with some strong camp outings and a good showing in his senior season he could see his stock rise to that level or even higher on every site. If we are able to land Jefferson to go along with Williams I'll be as happy as I possibly can be with our receivers for this class with just those two. That's all we need to take at receiver this year IMO, not sure what that would mean for Woods but we will see.

I have a feeling he may end up around the same area as josh Malone in the ratings

"Tennessee hosted several prospects this week and we'll get to those here in a moment, but on Van Jefferson, who was scheduled to make it in this weekend, that visit will be put on hold."

"Jefferson and his family were planning on making it back to Tennessee Saturday but that won't happen this weekend because of a scheduling issue. Look for Jefferson, though, to make it back to Knoxville at some point this summer."

"As for his recruitment, it's starting to come down to three schools for Jefferson. Tennessee, Ohio State and Georgia and some close to him believe the Buckeyes may be running third."

This kinda feels like Malone where everyone counted us out and gave up on him then we came back out of nowhere to land him.

Last year's class was no fluke just bc of the legacies. This staff can cruit.

(Oh yeah I'm supposed to post something gay)
