'15 TN WR Van Jefferson

I don't know OSU's roster, but we throw the ball more and probably rotate more. I am guessing that is what he means. Our style is conducive to getting a WR on the field sooner.

Your post makes more sense than his. His seemed to imply that he would have a tougher time cracking the WR lineup at OSU because of talent. Don't think that's the case.

They need another WR in this class. He'll be in the rotation no later than 2016 (his sophomore year). If they don't get Van they'll take someone else, so lets hope they can land him.

As far as WR's go. Butch and this offense will definitely throw more and rotate more than OSU will. Butch likes to play a lot of WR's, Meyer not so much. Plus OSU just signed 5 4-star WR's in last year's class.

I don't know about a day 1 starter. Van is good but I don't think he is on the same level as our other WRs.

Na I didn't say he'd start, but he could find a way on the field and make some big plays.

He's just too athletic, unless the coaches decided it'd be smart to save his legs, he'd find a way to play. Day 1

Thanks for clarifying for me.

Seeing what I've seen in our offense and hearing the coaches wanting to rotate WRs more due to the tempo of the offense, I can see Van making a instant impact, even with how deep we look next year. I've never seen Preston Williams play in person, but I guess the same can be said about him.

I like Van, he is special on certain nuances of the position. Crisp routes, knowledgeable about the position. I always look up skill guys track times and I was shocked how slow he was, he looked faster on the field. And I for one will not be offended if someone has a difference in opinion.

Having top flight QB's '15 Q Dormady & '16 A Kendall in the fold to toss him the rock cannot hurt with Van's recruitment to the Hill.

With as many plays that we want to run on offense in 90 range and wanting to keep guys fresh. There are plenty of snaps per game for WRs. Depth shouldn't be a concern for a WR that understands what the staff plans to do with rotations.

When asked who he thinks land Jefferson at this point Paul on VQ said

3. I would guess Ohio State. But, I don't know for sure.

Never bought into that talk at all. If dad was so put off by OSU's tactics, dad would not continue to take trips back there with his son on their dime.

JMO.

Exactly......some piss poor rumor IMO. OSU is very much in play and probably really is the frontrunner. Hopefully CBJ and Co can change that, but even the master of recruiting won't win them all. As crazy as it sounds, not everybody likes peanut butter. Even if it has hot sauce on it.

I tell myself the staff may indeed not feel so good about landing Jefferson. The late offer to Perry could be partly to solidify Phillips and partly to fill the void IF Jefferson does pick OSU.

my concern level over a WR is a 2 out of 1,000.

Yup. I agree. Other than him being instate, I don't really care at all. Williams and Bruce IMO would be just fine. They want to take another WR and move Bruce to CB, OK. I'd probably leave Bruce at Slot and pick up another CB.

I'm a little more concerned than you are i guess. I'd give my concern level a 5.4 out of 1,000.

Would I like to have him on our team. Of ourse I would. He has the potential to be a good to great WR. Am I concerned with the WR position right now. Not in the least.

Uhhh, he's an absolute stud. He was unstoppable in college when healthy. Pretty close to the same in the NFL too (like someone else said, see last year's Super Bowl). He's just always had health issues.

Uhh, YOU might think he's a stud but around the NFL he's referred to as "hurtin' Harvin" and not for what he does to anybody..He's played 55 out of a possible 84games in his career, along with no 1k receiving yd seasons, so what exactly screams "stud" about that..I stated in my post "Health issues" were the problem..What he should do and what he has done are 2 totally different things.."Studs" don't watch from the sidelines..

I was in Columbus last week for a few days. I stopped by the OSU campus and walked around their stadium. I have no idea why in the world anyone would choose to attend college there instead of Knoxville. Once Butch fully gets things rolling I have a feeling we will dominate OSU in recruiting. Not to mention playing in the SEC vs. Big 10
