'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

Dormady is one our most active recruits, and after this past summer he emerges as a potential face of our program...without even an offer from the school in Austin, we're discussing backup plans and concession speeches. Our point of reference is Dalton Santos...an afterthought that Mack Brown snatched from Dooley's last class...big difference? Dormady's parents have bought all in to Knoxville...Papa Santos was openly hostile when Sunseri tried to woo Dalton back. Gentry was our #1 target and it was a deflation when he committed to Texas...but we benefitted because our staff went on to the next target with vigor. I think Gentry will keep pace and not lose his spot... If Strong does end up offering Dormady , it won't be as attractive an offer. IMO.

If Texas offers Dormady I'm sure it will hard for him to turn down.

You're either kidding or you haven't been following this kid's recruitment. Short of the Cowboys or Packers offering QD a long term max deal, he's 100% Vol.

TX has Charlie Strong and Tennessee has Butch Jones and a house full of top receivers (WRU). QD knows all this and he knows that the peanut butter at Tennessee is much better than the armadillo stew at Texas. QD is a Vol and will stay a Vol.

TX has the distance factor. It has burned us in the state of Texas before. Dalton Santos and the TAMU DB come to mind right off the bat. The state of Texas hasn't been very kind to Tennessee. One reason why I do not get very excited about TX commitments, until they ink.

He has no Texsa offer.

He has never hinted he wanted one.

He has never hinted he would think about flipping to them if he did get one.

Where are these pages of hand wringing coming from?

Do you have the quote? I looked and looked for it.

“I don’t know if I had a Texas offer if things would change or not but I’m definitely comfortable with where I am and I’m coming (to Tennessee),” Dormady told InsideTennessee

In not so many words.

Doesn't mean we're doomed. Just means Texas' presence matters.

Thanks. That's a far cry from saying he hopes he gets one. He's not going to slam his home state school or say they don't matter.

This is not Dooley or Kiffin time. This is Butch time.
It's like I said, we have Butch and WRU and Texas has Charlie Strong, enough said.

Are we sure he's thinking about his recruitment? If he is, he certainly seems to be very excited about it!

Its amazing that one person gives a CB to Texas and we start to look for backup plans eceryone calm down for a second. Texas hasnt even offered from what i know and with gentry committed i dont think they will. I am not to worried with this one i believe once he committed hes done.

Think he reads this board?

I think he was reading this thread today. Why else tweet that tonight and with #volnation? Also, I don't know what that Justin Kraintz was thinking with that Texas CB but he couldn't be looking at his twitter...It's nothing but Tennessee football down to "Best facilities", talking garbage to Bama about McKenzie/Petitbon, tweets to Jack Jones and Jefferson to the Hill, pics of Neyland and indoor practice field...and Butch. Some drama queens were in this thread today - he is ALLVOL.

Chicken lil fans, the sky is falling the sky is falling...........ugh I swear, I agree with ya. It's amazing how skittish our fan base is. Sit back and relax bro's n sis's BUTCH has got this. Deep breath in n slowly exhale. Good news Dooley is gone, no Santos's this year.

If a flip was going to happen there would be more smoke on the Tennessee side. Dormady does not seem like the type of kid to undercut a head coach like that. His father is the head coach at Boerne afterall, so I'd expect some higher morals from the kid when it comes to decisions like that. I think we can cut the kid some slack and assume these guys giving the Crystal Balls are all doing it for some self-imagined mock internet glory.

Dormady is a Vol and will be an EE. I think Texas writers either heard a rumor or are trying to make themselves look smart. Either way, I'm not sold on Texas writers getting a scoop like that before our guys. They would at least get a warning or even a sniff of it.

I agree. Kid looks 100% Vol to me.

IF a TX offer were to come AND he set up a visit to Austin, then IMO it's time to pull out the QB board.
