'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

As a soph. Hs QB, he rushed 18x for a -38 yards. No link, but got it from his hs website. Does that help you in your quest? I was impressed by 3010 yards passing total for a 10th grader myself.
Just because the scheme during his 10th grade year did not ask him to rush (looks like sack yards) his long rush that year was 9 yards.
I could not care less. I want a QB that passes well, thinks pass or hand-off 1st. Then rush to keep the defense honest.
With the weapons that he will have at WR, TE, and RB, I want the QB to deliver the ball to them and not take a lot of hits... :hi:

Agree 100%. With the talent that we will have all over the field on offense, I think it will be tough for the defense to cover every single person effectively. Dormady will have a lot of targets to throw too.

Hey Freak....

You think we could get some badges to award to posters based on their past post history...? Have it show up under their name?

Maybe an "emotional" badge for the knee jerkers?

Possibly a "dunce" badge for posters who speak "truth" and consistently get proved wrong...

Also a "sheep" badge for the guys who complain about stars given by a person who never played football...

Just a thought...

What I still don't understand reading this thread is that star gazers DON'T like this kid. How is that possible? He's a 4 star on two services and it's clear the others haven't evaluated him yet because he was injured last year. This thread is mind boggling.

The stars are actually among the reasons I DO like him.

Sparq that I could find on him. That shuttle time is absurd for those worried if he can run or not especially for a 6-4 210 guy.

QB Quinten Dormady 210, 4.15 shut, 36.0 PB, 28.4 VJ

At Dallas, he showed off a strong deep ball with nice touch and accuracy. One of his biggest assets is his height; he is quickly and consistently able to find receivers on short slant routes, without having to worry about defensive linemen swatting down his throws. However, certain areas of his passing mechanics still need improvement. Dormady occasionally fails to rotate his torso enough to square with his target, robbing his throws of some zip (a tendency he compensates for by kicking up his right leg).

The Elite 11 camp brought more of Dormady’s strengths and weaknesses into focus. According to Coleman Feeley’s analysis of the event at HornSports.com, Dormady performed well during mobility drills such as scrambles and play-action rollouts. He also threw well on the run, displaying a fluid and natural throw that was part of his stride. However, he struggled with throwing from a full 5-step drop and was inaccurate with his deep ball.

Great point above..............look at Florida's class.

Very few studs in the current class right now and a majority are 3 stars and unranked.

When your program is in a certain situation you can't be picky.

Alabama and LSU can be picky. Florida and Tennessee cannot be.

Tennessee has turned down 3 different players in this class. So yeah, we are being picky.

Over the last 10 years...........a "scrambling" QB has won the national title 3 times. A pocket passer has won 7 times.

But by all means, keep saying you need a QB who runs a 4.4

Vince Young, Tim Tebow, and Cam Newton were all scrambling QB's.

Chris Leak, Matt Flynn, Greg McElroy, AJ McCarrens, Jameis Winston all pure passers.

Winston is the only one of those pocket passers that won a national championship. The others were along for the ride when their team won.

[rant]Wow.. That's all I can say about some of the folks posting up in this thread. This kid appears to be a terrific passing QB and most importantly he wants to be a VOL! His stars aren't where you want them and you think the only way you can win is if you have a running QB. This offense, the playmakers, Hurd, North, Pearson, Malone, Pig, Wolf, Helm and now we have both an ATHLETE/QB (Jennings) and a PRO-STYLE/QB (Dormady) to get them the ball. I wish everyone would stop all the whining and go back to the FF so we can have an intelligent conversation about the future of our football team and the great players that are wanting to be a part of it.[/rant]

I give your rant about a 3. Truly good rants involve name calling and funny comparisons.

This is an interesting QB prospect. Definitely a project, but his upside is tremendous. The accuracy and zip he puts on some of those routes is exceptional. I agree with the scout reports, he does need to work on a flaw in some of his throws, but I love his throwing motion. He really, REALLY needs to learn to put his step in and use his hips on his deep throws while in the pocket, and his pocket presence needs a little work. I see him as a Crompton-Worley mix right now. He will do great on the run out of the play action, because his on the run throws are spot on, and his short game will be spectacular (WR should be drooling, his style definitely highlights open field playmakers), but if he wants to develop beyond a game manager to a game CHANGER, which he has the potential to do, he really needs to take what he is getting from Bajakian and these camps to heart and replace those bad habits. Can't wait to see what he does this year, and GO VOLS.

Until the O-line proves itself we should be ranking reading defenses and finding receivers high on a QB's positives. That would minimize the need for running skill.
