'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

“With the dominoes falling as quickly as they were, and the really elite quarterbacks nationally getting snatched up at a really rapid pace at this point, I think that makes this a huge get for Tennessee because, to me, this was one of the few remaining uncommitted, elite arms in the nation,” Simmons said of Dormady.

“Dormady’s got, I think, a really talented arm. He’s back full-speed after injuring (his shoulder) going into his junior year, and college coaches have really been raving about what they’ve seen of him in the spring. I like him because he’s athletic. He’s not a run-first guy. You don’t create an offense around his legs, but he’s capable. He’s a baseball player. He’s got some functional athleticism to him, and he’s got a live arm.

“He can make every throw on the field, and if he had played his junior year, I have no doubt that he would have been one of the real big names in this recruiting cycle from the start.”

“I think he’s a big-armed kid. I think that’s what jumps out to me,” Simmons said.

“I think, with the body of work, accuracy is kind of maybe more of the question mark (than his arm strength), just because we haven’t seen as much of him and we want to make sure that he’s got the consistency to make the throws on a regular basis.”

Great point above..............look at Florida's class.

Very few studs in the current class right now and a majority are 3 stars and unranked.

When your program is in a certain situation you can't be picky.

Alabama and LSU can be picky. Florida and Tennessee cannot be.

Aren't you guys in great shape to land your usual haul of 4-5 instate 5* players?

As a soph. Hs QB, he rushed 18x for a -38 yards. No link, but got it from his hs website. Does that help you in your quest? I was impressed by 3010 yards passing total for a 10th grader myself.
Just because the scheme during his 10th grade year did not ask him to rush (looks like sack yards) his long rush that year was 9 yards.
I could not care less. I want a QB that passes well, thinks pass or hand-off 1st. Then rush to keep the defense honest.
With the weapons that he will have at WR, TE, and RB, I want the QB to deliver the ball to them and not take a lot of hits... :hi:

I'm on no "quest" for anything. I'm only trying to share information and properly define the type of QB we are getting in Dormady. There were several posters claiming that this kid is a running threat - to some extent - and I simply pointed out that there is 0 evidence of this. Sorry if it's a problem for you.

One might argue that with the UT coaches taking him, they obviously feel he can run well enough to execute their offense.

Hubbs is sold on Dormandy and he gives his two cents on Gibson situation

I don't know. I know that he was on campus today/tonight so the coaches could talk to him about it face to face.

Tennessee just couldn't and wouldn't wait Gibson out and put all their eggs in that basket. No way they could take a chance on only having Dobbs and Peterman here next season.

They would take Gibson obviously still. But I like the pick up of Dormandy. I think getting a qb is huge for this class. Very important for this program.

Where he thinks Rivals will end up ranking QD - Hubbs

I think he is 4-star guy in my opinion. Everyone who has seen him throw the last month has fallen in love with him and offered. Tennessee's recruiting office did a really good job finding him off his sophomore tape and developing a relationship with him. they saw him in limited work early spring and liked him and then saw him last weekend and really, really liked him. He only solidified to them last weekend what they believed they saw in his sophomore tape

PS this is a very positive post from Hubbs...he is usually very conservative.

Looks like the natives are getting restless again.

This is simple. Butch hopes to take two QBs this year. Dormady is a stud all but a few DI programs would love to sign. Some people just don't like gravy with their meat and potatoes I guess.

Said main reason he picked TN is Coach Jake and Jones and how he fits in the system.

Said Jones has great character and is the type of person he wants to be around.

He is an EE. He started planning to be an EE his Sophomore year.

QD is 18 and was 16 in the sophmore film.

Said he runs 40 in the low 4.7's (Ainge makes cheesy old man joke)

Dad is his head coach, they run a similar system to what TN runs. Work progressions, pre snap read, quick decisions get the ball out. Going to take as many 1 on 1's as he can get the ball to the playmakers and let them make plays.

Shoulder is a strong as ever.

QD hand picked his replacement when he was hurt. It was a receiver and QD worked with him every day over the summer to get him ready to take over for the team last year. Was his teams QB coach last year.

Definitely thinks he can run. Curently his team doesn't ask him to do that, but if it is best for him to tuck it and get 5 or 10 yards he can do that easily.

Well... I'm all aboard the dormady express... Said all the right stuff.

Also, if I was a recruit I would refuse to do an interview with "jay bay"

Some of the questions are funny. "Do you plan to help recruit more kids to the 2015 class"?

I mean do they EVER think a kid will respond to that with, "Heck no, I'm not paid to be a recruiter".

Absolutely killed his interview. As stated on a previous page, this kid wants to be on Rocky Top. To me, that is huge and cannot be overstated. To have a kid that wants to play for you AND has an elite skill set is an incredible asset.

I also loved the one "as far as your love of the game, are you more Brett favre or Peyton manning?"

Wtf does that even mean?? Which of those two hall of famers didn't love the game?
