With the dominoes falling as quickly as they were, and the really elite quarterbacks nationally getting snatched up at a really rapid pace at this point, I think that makes this a huge get for Tennessee because, to me, this was one of the few remaining uncommitted, elite arms in the nation, Simmons said of Dormady.
Dormadys got, I think, a really talented arm. Hes back full-speed after injuring (his shoulder) going into his junior year, and college coaches have really been raving about what theyve seen of him in the spring. I like him because hes athletic. Hes not a run-first guy. You dont create an offense around his legs, but hes capable. Hes a baseball player. Hes got some functional athleticism to him, and hes got a live arm.
He can make every throw on the field, and if he had played his junior year, I have no doubt that he would have been one of the real big names in this recruiting cycle from the start.
I think hes a big-armed kid. I think thats what jumps out to me, Simmons said.
I think, with the body of work, accuracy is kind of maybe more of the question mark (than his arm strength), just because we havent seen as much of him and we want to make sure that hes got the consistency to make the throws on a regular basis.
Great point above..............look at Florida's class.
Very few studs in the current class right now and a majority are 3 stars and unranked.
When your program is in a certain situation you can't be picky.
Alabama and LSU can be picky. Florida and Tennessee cannot be.
As a soph. Hs QB, he rushed 18x for a -38 yards. No link, but got it from his hs website. Does that help you in your quest? I was impressed by 3010 yards passing total for a 10th grader myself.
Just because the scheme during his 10th grade year did not ask him to rush (looks like sack yards) his long rush that year was 9 yards.
I could not care less. I want a QB that passes well, thinks pass or hand-off 1st. Then rush to keep the defense honest.
With the weapons that he will have at WR, TE, and RB, I want the QB to deliver the ball to them and not take a lot of hits... :hi:
I'm on no "quest" for anything. I'm only trying to share information and properly define the type of QB we are getting in Dormady. There were several posters claiming that this kid is a running threat - to some extent - and I simply pointed out that there is 0 evidence of this. Sorry if it's a problem for you.
I don't know. I know that he was on campus today/tonight so the coaches could talk to him about it face to face.
Tennessee just couldn't and wouldn't wait Gibson out and put all their eggs in that basket. No way they could take a chance on only having Dobbs and Peterman here next season.
They would take Gibson obviously still. But I like the pick up of Dormandy. I think getting a qb is huge for this class. Very important for this program.
I think he is 4-star guy in my opinion. Everyone who has seen him throw the last month has fallen in love with him and offered. Tennessee's recruiting office did a really good job finding him off his sophomore tape and developing a relationship with him. they saw him in limited work early spring and liked him and then saw him last weekend and really, really liked him. He only solidified to them last weekend what they believed they saw in his sophomore tape
Some of the questions are funny. "Do you plan to help recruit more kids to the 2015 class"?
I mean do they EVER think a kid will respond to that with, "Heck no, I'm not paid to be a recruiter".
