'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

I figure I could stay away from this thread for a while since we got the guy, but look at all these people who are incapable of reading posts.

As Leb, Tux, others, and I have stated a ridiculous amount of times so far in this thread, we don't need a run first quarterback. We are not Auburn or OSU, we just want our our QB to be able to pick up the yards that are presented to him when the DE crashes inside. The QB only has to keep the ball around 5 times a game to not only keep the defense honest but to also pick up a pretty good deal of rushing yards. For the most part our offense is going to be about spreading out the defensive backfield with shorter routes so that we can strike them over the top with our grade A recievers.

Also I can't believe people are using his sophomore stats to prove he is "unathletic". The kid only rushed 18 times? No he was more than likely sacked that many times which is why he had negative rushing yardage. His HS offense never calls for him to run, but at both camps and as a baseball player he has proven himself to be plenty athletic.

I guess I can address one more thing. Yes, we are still recruiting TG. Just like last year and this year when CBJ has continued to recruit kids he had no intentions of taking just because you never know what might happen in recruiting. You have to have your ass covered. Butch was recruiting Harrel and Johnson, even talking them up, but was he willing to take their commitment? Nope. I kind of laugh at those who still or ever believed that TG is number one on our board. What made you think that, a gut feeling? You do realize this staff tells basically every recruit that they are their number one guy and that they'd love to have them. It's just recruiting speak. The only way to tell who was truly high up the board is who commits to us or has us scrambling because they committed elsewhere.

I agree. Our QB has to protect the ball, get it to our playmakers and be a leader. It's really that simple.

I may road trip it down to hill country this fall and catch this kid slingin it. Ill let yall know how it goes!

On Rivals a 4 * can be one of 3 rating. A 6.0 4* is a borderline 5* and usually rated in the top 30-60 players nationally. A 5.9 4* is usually a top 60-150 player nationally and a 5.8 4* make up the rest of the top 250 along with maybe a hundred or so more players who mostly are only ranked in their position.

He was interviewed on 105.1 Chattanoogas espn radio. Right before he came on the air I had to get out of my car. Can anyone find a link or have any information from the interview?

He said he does not know how to run, he never works on his footwork, but he can throw half way decent.

He went on to say that CBJ told him that he will never be allowed to run, in fact, he doesn't even have to run in practice. CBJ apparently told him that this is a classic pro-style offense, and as such, it will be drop back and pass only.

NB4 Patrick calls Butch a pathological liar! :)

Why would he adjust the O? He is every bit as athletic as Brendan Kay and Zach Collaros were and he didn't adjust the offense for them and they both put up solid rushing numbers. A pro-style QB fits just fine in this offense. Not sure where in the world this adjustment stuff is coming from. It's all about deception off the read option, the QB just has to be willing to keep the ball when he has a wide open lane, something Worley didn't do last year that he should have done on a number of occasions.

I have a feeling that there may be some fans who are a bit nervous about a QB who has yet to prove capable of running effectively. It could be due to all the frustration with Worley last year. There were some who were literally begging Worley to keep the ball a couple of times a game. I think the fear stems from the idea that the offense will suffer the same way it did when Worley wouldn't keep it and everyone knew it. When he did keep it he did OK (5-10yds), but it wasn't what a lot of people wanted to see from a QB in the read option.

It may be a bit irrational to think that a QB in a 1st year offense should've been much more effective. After all, we did see a bit of improvement in Worley during the UGA and USCg games. I feel like Worley is going to impress quite a few people this coming season, Dobbs too.

@MsAmyCampbell Gibson had given #Auburn a slight edge after visiting, now gives #Vols "more than" slight edge after this visit. recruiting.scout.com/story/1411054

Ainge interviewed Dormandy the other day on TSR. Seemed like a very mature young man. Said he's been clocked in the low 4.7's. Said his shoulder feels stronger than ever. He's a coaches son so he loves the prep part of football

Edit: also was the QB coach of his H.S. Team last year while injured. He Made one of his WR into the QB for his team while he was injured because he was the most trustworthy. Ainge and JayBay loved him
