'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

After reading this thread I don't know which people are more confused about, Dormady- and the spelling of his name, or what offensive system we run. Also for all those worrying about us not running enough in our system Butch said a couple times last year we didn't run as much as we wanted because we had no quality depth at QB. (two freshman and an RSF) and NOBODY being able to run his offense. Look at the first play call of the O&W (i know its just practice) Worley ran for a good chunk of yards on that first play.

(Putting on my flame retardant suit) Playing baseball is does not make Quinten athletic. He is athletic and plays/played baseball. Baseball is a lazy sport and I see no way it makes someone more athletic, can it help elsewhere sure but not athletically. He sparq numbers are great so he is athletic, but drop the whole 'its ok he's athletic because he plays baseball bs'. In high school the baseball player 'sprints' were equivalent to my jogs, and several went on to play in college- Carson Newman, ETSU and few other small schools.

The athleticism debate is dumb. Even at quarterback, you don't get to be a D1 SEC athlete by being so unathletic that you can't pull it and run for 5 gimme yards and a 1st down.

Scientifically speaking, the hardest thing to do athletically is to hit a major league fastball. Let's see you try to hit a major league fastball, steal a base, or make a throw to the plate.

I have read some bravo sierra before, but your rendition takes the biggest and stinkiest cow pile.

Quinten Dormady is a quarterback. He is very athletic and very coordinated. He throws a good ball with a lot of velocity and is charged with making good decisions in delivering the football either by handing the ball off or throwing the football. He has done it his entire football life and is a very good fit for the UT football zone read offense. We do not run the read option. It is the zone read.

The argument has turned very funny on here. All the arguments about Dormady's athletic ability and can he run the Tennessee offense. The funny part?

Quinten Dormady is a Tennessee Volunteer QB commitment. You know who isn't? Exactly.

Great. He spent a lot of time on his trip with Zach Azzanni discussing wide receiver play at UT. he can catch a lot of passes from Dormady.

I think they told him he'd be on the field somewhere even if they had to put about 100 pounds on him and let him play RT on the O-line.

How many major-league fastballs has Dormady hit? I thought he was still in high school...

Also, how does that even translate to the kind of athletic ability you want in a QB? Hitting is all about hand-eye coordination and bat speed. Will this help him run for decent gains? I'm not doubting his athletic ability, but we can stop using baseball as the evidence of it.

Man...I almost miss the days when we were pathetic. We spent far less time hyper analyzing the 4* QBs that chose us...and were way more appreciative when they did. VN has made the journey from chunky girl to high maintenance beauty surprisingly quickly...

The gibsonites are clueless.

So...former soccer player?
Do not really care, after all the soccer bashing...maybe lacrosse?

Tux, are you feeling okay?
Excellent post. Baseball only requires no talent or athletic skill if you know nothing about it. :hi:

I totally disliked baseball growing up, now I have a son that loves baseball. I have learned more and now love it too.

No need to bash other sports, jmo.

Remember when Nathan Peterman was going to be the next Tebow?

Once again, not doubting his athletic ability here. I'm ecstatic to have him on board as our qb, and prefer him over Gibson. I'm only saying that I don't agree with the whole baseball argument.

Long Toss improves your arm strength and accuracy. Playing the outfield or any position but first requires athleticism because they gotta run the ball down.
