'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

I know this probably has no input on what may happen. However, Dormady has said he thinks that he will be the only quarterback we sign for 15'. I know Jennings is a quarterback too but more project that he will be a safety & not a quarterback. VolNation what do y'all think & let the discussions begin?

I've heard both about Jennings: 1. He understands he wasn't recruited to play QB at UT and 2. He's been working his tail off to improve his mechanics and throwing skills so that he can get his shot at playing QB at UT. I'm not sure what to think quite honestly.

Dobbs had 56 yards passing and 2 INTs with 0 TDs against Vandy. I know some people wanna blame it on the block in the back, but we never shouldve been in that position.

Last year Worley was 55.6%. 10 TDs and 8 INTs
Last year Dobbs was 59.5%. 2 TDs and 6 INTs + 1 Rushing TD (all 3 TDs against UK)

You cant say Dobbs played great and then say Worley was throwing them in the dirt. Both of them made some bad throws. But 1 thing that Worley did that Dobbs didnt, was throw the ball away sometimes (although not too often)

Against SEC competition.

Dobbs 72/121 59.5% 2td 6 ints
4th quarter 15/24 62.5% 0tds 0 ints

Worley 54/103 52.4% 3tds 4 ints
4th quarter 21/44 47.7% 2 tds 2 ints

Worley didn't do as well against similar competition. The only thing he did better was throw 2 less picks on 18 fewer passes with a way lower completion percentage. With another year experience Dobbs will take care of the ball better. Dobbs made more bad decisions but Worley had way more bad throws.

Worley will most likely start but don't be surprised to see Dobbs over take him. Worley was not really much better than a true freshman as a Junior.

What!? No I missed that! Impressive stuff for sure!

Nah, just simple physics for Mr. Dobbs. :)

Impressive is when he calculates the 5 receiver set (for each receiver) in regards to pass velocity and trajectory including variables for the receivers speed on any given play, the grass condition as it affects their speed and ability to cut, as well as the wind in regards to the football and the receivers. In this three seconds span, he also adds the variable of the cornerbacks 40 times as well as the fact that the defensive end just got past his right tackle. :)

If you go back and read my posts you would see I love the commitment and pickup- never been negative about any of the prospects though whatever is going on with TG is starting to worry me. (high school rumors and all that jazz) The main point of my argument was over the use of athleticism being used because he played baseball.

The first and third definitions are what I have always based my usage of the word on. In case the link doesnt work:
ath·let·ic [ath-let-ik] Show IPA

2.

4.

Yes hitting a baseball is very effing difficult. So while I am no pro- and never said I was- I have played against high school talent- way better than me at baseball. But explain to me how hitting a ball makes him faster, stronger, have more agility or any of the things that go into being an 'athlete', which I think he is a good athlete(way more athletic than I am). The point I was making is that a generic baseball player isnt going to be able to switch over and run wind sprints, make sharp cuts or be strong from baseball training. And yes while I played soccer it was because at his age i was maybe 5'-4" 110 lbs. The most exciting thing that happens in baseball is a homerun/grand slam in which the 'athlete' has earned the ability to trot around the diamond in straight lines. Not exactly setting him up to tear up SEC defenses. Again because you have forgotten already I love that we got Dormady and I think he will have a great career in this system. Now to relatively not clutter up the thread I will not continue a 'which sport is greater debate'- because none are, different strokes for different lazy folks. And if you want to trade which is more difficult I will throw out there a goalie defending a penalty kick is also incredibly difficult, why? because the speed of the ball and distance are too great/too little for the human mind to process the information before the action is over. so the goalie has to go off instinct and quick twitch to block a ball his mind hasn't even registered yet.

All in good fun, go vols, go Dormady! :loco:

So if I understand you correctly, what you are basically saying is that a baseball player store your girlfriend... :)

No more like shortly after we broke up she went and got herpes from the baseball player who never called her again. Made my day at the time.

Bump for Tux

I will send that back to you. How many practices did you watch?

I have read enough form various reporters who have seen some practices and have talked to the coaches and players behind the scenes and they have reported what the players and coaches have told them. If you have paid attention to what the writers have said, you would know and understand the same thing.

Coaches will have to be careful how they play this one. If they try to pull another move like they did with Dobbs/Ferguson, we could lose Quinten late. Hopefully that does not happen. IMO he is the one who will push Dobbs the most early on.

Here is the telling part of the interview:

Q: Did the coaches tell you if they are recruiting another quarterback for the 2015 class?

A: "They got the [Murfreesboro athlete prospect Jauan] Jennings kid committed earlier, and he's a quarterback as well, but I believe I'm going to be the only quarterback in this class."

Butch Jones is not going to lie to this kid. Butch is a straight shooter and his reputation as a recruiter is on the line when he tells a kid such.

I agree Tux. I think this is why Gibson will be a wide receiver if he comes here.
