'15 TX RB Corey Dauphine

Dauphine's request for passes to the Homecoming beat down of Kansas was declined by Baylor. Coaches told him he no longer has a commitable offer.

Don't know what's up with that...guess they decided to move on.

Watched a couple of mins of 2013 highlights. I really don't see anything special here. Just solid at best. I like his running style. Good north/south runner. Doesn't look like he has great speed. Maybe I'm wrong.... Admittedly I'm a little underwhelmed by the RB prospects this year in comparison to previous years. I'd say keep what we got, maybe chase Love? I don't know... After the SC game I'm not seeing an immediate need at RB.

You always need depth at the rb position. See lsu, Alabama, uga, etc. All top notch year in and out in running the football, all have a stable of bluechip prospects, all usually top 10 and experiencing 10 win seasons.

Not saying rb is most important position, not saying rb is the only reason those teams are that good. I'm a firm believer in winning starting with defense. But on offense i believe you need one or more stars at every position, and quality depth to pick up the slack should there be any for any reason. And ya, you guessed it, i believe a good offense starts with owning the line of scrimmage so you can run the ball consistently to set up the pass, which is hopefully being delivered by a dynamic quarterback.

Long story short: you need quality rb depth.

So Lane gets hurt and really Hurd was the only RB to see carries and you aren't seeing an immediate need at RB?

IMO, not really.

Hurd will be #1 in 2015. I'm guessing Kamara will be #2. I'd think Scott will be #3. Pickett #4. Then Reid would likely be a RS candidate.

With CBJ seeming to like to stick to 1-2 RBs to see the majority of the carries plus Dobbs carrying it a bit, we would be fine IMO.

Also I feel Perry/Bruce would be seeing some the Pig Howard type sweep carries at some point.

Get 2 quality RBs in 2016 and we are just fine.

If Pickett is top 4, then we need another

In reality Reid would be #4 but 5 to preserve him being able to RS, and in the event Pickett was forced into a starter/#2 role, the RS would probably be pulled off Reid and Pickett would then be #5. JMO

The rest of your post can be debated by personal opinion, however, the bolded part can not. You are just wrong here, kid is a blazer.

Absurd thinking. We need three quality RBs this class without a doubt. What happens if Hurd goes down in any of the last three games this year? That is the same scenario next year with only him and AK as proven RBs. For some reason Scott isn't seeing any PT right now which concerns me a little as thin as we are. He will have to step up the last 3 games. I also think that we will get a lot more reps to Evan Berry during the bye week and have him as a third option. IMO, Pickett and the others are not options.

I think Scott sees more time vs UK assuming Lane is out. The extra week off will be good for him too from a practice reps perspective.

Taking a 3rd RB this year would not mean you have any more "proven" RBs next year. If you recruit with the mindset everyone "could" be injured then you would have huge issues all over the roster as that 9th, 10th, and 11th DT(in case of injury), or that 3rd, 4th, or 5th Punter(in case of injury) would cause shortages elsewhere. When you're only playing 2 RBs, guys #4, 5, and 6 being "proven" does not mean a whole lot IMO. Maybe it's absurd thinking, but I'll roll with it.

Jalen Hurd was not "proven" when he suited up this year in the SEC and he is doing alright. RB is 1 position where a TFR can make an impact if needed. The staff wants a 3rd RB? Alright. IMO I'd use the spot elsewhere.

A 3rd, 4th, or 5th punter, eh? I wasn't aware that the position had as high of an injury rate throughout the season as RB. :p

I mean other than Hurd, we haven't seen anything to be confident about out of our other RBs. The truth is we're pretty thin at that position currently.

We went into this year with one proven RB (Lane) which is why we added 3 in Hurd, Scott and Paulk. With Lane leaving and Paulk being dismissed if we don't take a 3rd this year we will be in the exact same situation with Hurd being the only proven RB next year. My reasoning behind this is based off Scott getting no significant work which of course could change. Even if it does I am not comfortable with Hurd, Kamara, Scott and Reid as our backfield. Two injuries away from a potential huge problem IMO. Based on current recruiting, i'm willing to bet that the staff sees this in a similar light as well.

I'd like to see Scott get more carries now that the RS is off. Hate to burn a year for a handful of plays. I know it's hard to take Hurd out, but there has to be ways to involve the kid.

IMO next year, Hurd is 1a and Kamara 1b. AK is that good. Scott is no. 2.

Hurd likes to punish tacklers, but puts himself at risk for injury or wearing down by end of season.

Similar to Gurley/Marshall their first year.

Scott will get carries the rest of the way. Offense is changing more, and big leads will allow Hurd to give up some carries

Assuming Lane will miss some time going forward, I think Scott probably picks up that slack. I too hate to see a redshirt pulled for a few meaningless plays, but I think this extra practice week prepares him for some legit workload vs UK and beyond.

watch for scott to transfer to nc state.. would be a huge loss because he is the next shady McCoy.. watch his highlights and the jumpcuts he pulls out, you can't teach. better start givin him the rock QUICKLY.
