This is honestly pretty disheartening. I know Jones has named us his leader now, but I'd rather have high school guys at this point. JUCO is great and all and if Jones wants to come to Tennessee, bring it on, Bubba! I'll be happy to have you! But, I feel like we need more guys with multiple years in the system and time to develop than one year starters who blow up then declare for the draft in December. I really was feeling like Settle, McKenzie, and Jones was entirely possible, but whenever we get bumped from a leader position it feels like we just can't close the distance again. Oh well, bring on Mr. Jones!
Interesting to know what happened. I have a feeling that Butch doesn't just "give up" the number 1 spot for a kid.
I wonder if Tim just decided that with Shy, Kahlil, and D.J. Jones high on UT, he didn't want the competition, or if maybe there were academic issues....it is the end of the semester....so it may be that the coaches realized that there would be no way his GPA would be what it needed to be (if that were the case).
Don't know. Would love to have the kid. But....odd that he suddenly put Clemson in the drivers seat.
Or Clemson was always #1 and he was just having fun on twitter? It's recruiting. Much the same way coaches tell multiple kids at the same position that they are #1 to them, I have no doubt we will see more and more kids claiming schools are #1 when it's just for the fans and twitter.

Or he could be claiming Clemson is #1 for the Clemson fans on Twitter. OR he is an undecided, highly rated and highly touted DT prospect who has some great choices.
Anything is possible.
History tends to show that when your a top DT recruit and your offer list is the who's who of college football, rarely do more than a couple choose the same school.
If you're saying we get Mckenzie and 1 out of 3 between Jones, Settle, and Tuttle, I actually agree with that. I think we get 2 out of those 4 and possibly another DT down the line if things fall into place for it.
