'15 VA OL Matthew Burrell

So what exactly is your point? Since they're not going to make a difference next year we shouldn't go after them? Everyone wishes Blair would've been the stud we thought he was going to be but he's not. They may not "make a difference" next year but if they're better than what we have now it is still an upgrade. Of course any freshman starting on the O-line is going to struggle, no matter how talented they are, but the experience will be huge in terms of their development and by the time they're juniors and seniors they should be very good players for us. We pretty much have no choice but to start a bunch of freshman and sophmores on the o-line, unless we can find some jucos, and with that being the case I want them to be the most talented ones we can get.

Simmer. No that's not my point. My point is let these guys on the line gel and get stronger. No revolving door on the line.

No one is mad. Just wasn't sure what the point of you post was. I don't necessarily agree but thanks for clarifying nonetheless.

Yep. And Juan James never struggled like our freshmen are, so I don't buy it. If they have more talent and size....plus have the benefit of being an EE, why wouldn't they have a great chance to start (not all of them but one or two just might)

He is. Jack Jones will be at OT, possibly with Dylan Jackson as well. Stewart is guard all the way. He will be a monster.
I wish all the experts on VN would knock it off with all these dogmatic statements, like you KNOW something, even the coaches don't yet know.

Zach Stewart is listed as a Guard and Tackle. It's up to the STAFF to decide that once he gets here. Not the damn beat writers or the know-it-alls here, like yourself, who think their opinion is fact.

Stewart fits the OT mold much better than an OG, but we will only know when he arrives on campus and is practicing. They didn't know where Coleman Thomas was going to play. Kerbyson was supposed to be the OG at the start of the season.

IMO our best line up is Robertson at RG and Weisman at C. I would start Kendrick at RT. I would develop Thomas as my future C. Kerbs is best suited at RG, but since we don't have a LT prospect, he's forced to play out of position. I saw an interview where Kerbs said he prefers to play inside at G. Also, I am not imposed of starting an elite freshman next year, but it needs to be someone who's played the position before in high school, such as Jones at RT. I understand why we moved Thomas to RT, but he's best suited a C IMO.

Coleman Thomas needs to switch positions because he is not an OT

Juwan was a five star and now 1st rd pick. Rarity

Thomas was a 3 star center playing tackle because we have no choice. Kerbyson was a 3 star guard playing tackle because we have no choice

Translation: Kahlil at the airport in Houston for an 8am flight. Burrell getting a haircut before heading to Knoxville

Lol

He was gettin beat like a dog.. I was feeling bad for him.

I feel terrible for both of them. Both should be at Guard and are paying the price for the team's lack of talent at O tackle. I'm floored Blair hasn't got a shot yet. Could he really be worse?

This is a message board, chill. I am passionate about this team too,but my goodness you have soft skin.

So I think ZS is better suited for OG than T, so what? I made a prediction/statement, I didn't state a "fact" or say it was in stone.

Everyday we have people on VN who make blind predictions and people like you who always pursue the recognition of being the hall monitor of VN stricking down any predictions/beliefs with "it's the coaches decision, not yours, not theirs, etc etc" and trying to teach them a lesson.

DUH. Of course it's the coaches decision. I'm just a normal guy who loves this team who happens to make predictions based off the film I've seen of all of our recruits we have committed. If I'm the only person who has made a prediction of some sort ban me. Just make sure LebVol, Ron Swanson, and everyone else who has made a prediction/statement gets banned as well. Opinions- that's the beauty of this site.

Oh btw, Stewert is listed as an offensive guard on rivals AND scout. 247 has him listed as a OL, but who cares he's a VFL and wherever he plays is fine with me.

This is just my opinion, but I think Butch is recruiting big, mean, and nasty road graders because he knows the potential that we have in the run game. Right now we are getting absolutely no push from our offensive line. If people can't stop our run game then it opens up the pass, but we have got to get some nasty run blockers across the board.

when Pittman was fired, we had Dan Skipper who is now starting at Arkansas. Who else was committed at the time?

Ben Still, a UT legacy, wasn't given the time of day, and currently starts at C for Ole Miss. Not sure what year that was, and he doesn't solve our OT problems, but another miss for us.

I think they're planning on red shirting Blair. There are other offensive lineman over there that couldn't be much of a drop off. What has happened to Pair and Sanders? At least they have some age on them. I'd really like to hear thatsmyboy's take on things.

I have really been curious where Austin has been. I watch the OL struggles and tell myself is it actually possible that we don't have OL kids on the bench who would at least not whiff on blocks? Can they at least get in the way of the DE coming off the edge?

As for Blair that just seems to be our luck. Had he went to any other SEC team as a top rated Juco he would probably be starting and looking like the OT he was when all the school were recruiting him. No, he commits to UT and can't sniff the field because he looks like a walk-on.

I keep thinking Butch has some master plan that one day we'll think "oh, I see why he did that" but now I keep thinking his master plan is playing all these kids so he can tell the recruits "see you can play as a freshman here".

I kind of see that as well. I hope CBJ does not fall into the mindset that he has to keep doing that and we see year after year of 1st year guys all over the field and we don't see 2nd, 3rd, 4th year guys being developed. I don't think it will play out well if in his 3rd-4th year he still prefer to play unproven FR over JRs and SRs.

I would still love to get thatsmyboys take on Mahoney and what's going on with that OLine. He may not want to share and that's completely understandable. Has he been around lately?

One problem is we have a bunch of guards and centers and no tackles besides a Juco we are trying to redshirt for some reason
