'15 VA OT Austin Clark

Obviously this is just assumption, but they were giving him the "commit tour" at the Thornton today. They were using the "this is where you will be doing X, this is X he will be your counsellor, etc.

Sounded like it was in the bag to me but once again, assumption. TIFWIW.

“tennessee being in my top seven, they’re definitely one of my favorites. But going on this visit today really did make me like them even more. … every time i go there, i feel really comfortable there. And each time i come back, i come away liking it more than i did before i got there.”
the 6-foot-6, 297-pound clark recently named a top seven of clemson, ohio state, penn state, south carolina, tennessee, virginia and virginia tech.
He’s not ready to name his four finalists, but he admitted that tennessee “has a really good shot" at being one of them.
Clark said wednesday’s visit — his fifth trip to tennessee in the past year — allowed him “to see a little bit more of the academic side of things” there and spend plenty of time with vols coach butch jones and offensive line coach don mahoney.
“they said that they love the way i play, and they’re hoping i pick tennessee next week,” clark said. “if i pick them, they’ll be real excited about it. That was their main message to me. … i talk to them a lot on the phone, but actually getting to sit down in coach jones’ office and talking face-to-face, that went really awesome.
“they really need some guys (at offensive tackle), and (mahoney) told me that i’d have an opportunity for early playing time there. He’s definitely planning on using me as a tackle.”

During that private meeting with Butch today I think the commitment was officially accepted.

Sounds like a Vol in 8 days to me!

We are about to enter our summer commitment run leading up to the beginning of "IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!" Enjoy the ride, folks! The maestro, Butch Jones, is at the helm, and he knows exactly what he is doing! I'm going to sit back and

So either he was a take all along and made the surprise visit to commit in person(will announce on the 12th). OR UT has been slow playing him and he stopped in to give them 1 last chance to accept his commitment before he announces elsewheree.

OR I have no idea what I'm talking about..

..
.

Looks to me, like the coaches were wavering on accepting a commitment for a while, trying to crunch the numbers. Clark got serious about USCe, called a date, and Butch figured better to take a top player in hand, then continue to beat the bushes.

Hope it plays out this way

IF they had always plan to try and take 2 QBs, then Riley left, maybe they now think there is room for another OL guy.

I know this: if I was a USCe fan, I'd be real worried about this "surprise" visit.
