'15 VA OT Austin Clark

Team speed is what's killed us. Some fast sob's en route to Knox now tho!

Yes it has! I still remember when the VQ Mods said Dooley preferred size over speed on defense. I couldn't believe they said that about him. He had no chance to succeed with that philosophy. And you're right thankfull team speed will be night and day from this year to next.

Elite OL and QB are the biggest needs in '15 class, no doubt about it.

Stewart, Jones, Clark and Richmond would go a long way in that area. Hopefully they can land Stidham, Nunez or another top tier QB and the sooner the better. And I think they will.

Totally agree!

No doubt. The list of reaches in just 3 years under Dooley is unbelievably scary. Who was the kid they recruited last year who was a high school DT that they wanted as a LB? He committed but was then dropped...LOL It's no wonder the team speed on defense was so awful this year.

I think your talking about Zach Barnes. He played on the same HS team as Nkedmchike. That was Sal's call. He camped here and Sal fell in love with him. After Butch canned him, I've never heard anything else about him.

Or you could be talking about Dominic Zanca. The kid out of Florida. He took his talents to Duke.

Barnes ended up at Texas Tech. I think he has had 1 tackle all year. Didn't see Zanca while watching Duke play.

Remember Colton Barnes and Chauntez Jackson? All kinds of reaches in that recruiting class for Dools. What was the name of that DT as well?

Edit: it was Joe Saunders

I don't even remember those people and I've been following closely for 4 years now. :)

Dooley's 2012 class has got to be the most pathetic excuse for a signing class that I've ever seen.

Cody Blanc- Knoxville product. Most likely getting recruited over now.

Deion Bonner- #HeGone

Davante Bourque- #HeGone

Drae Bowles- 2 years in, don't think he has caught a pass yet. Most likely a career ST player.

George Bullock- shouldn't have been put on scholly. Medley probably is his replacement.

Kenny Bynum- LB out of Florida we got at the 11th hour to save face. Verdict is still out. Most likely recruited over.

Jason Croom- You saw some flashes, but need more consistency. Verdict still out

Dan Gray- #HeGone

Alden Hill- 4th string RB. Recruited over. Competing against walkon Deanthonie Summerhil for mop up duty.

Pig Howard- One of the vocal points for our offense this year. Tough sophomore year.

Justin King- 2 years in and he has yet to settle in on a position. Most likely a ST player unless he transfers.

Latroy Lewis- Verdict still out. Hope he gets a chance to produce

McCullers- Don't even get me started lol

LaDarrell McNeill- Our highest rated recruit. Needs to get faster period. Verdict still out

Justin Meredith- Had to end his football career due to a hamstring injury. Now one of Elder's assistants

Danny O'Brien- Made some noise this year at UT. Verdict still out

CP- 1 and done

Peterman- Verdict still out. Has a LONG way to go

Dante Phillips- #HeGone

Sentimore- 1 and done

Trent Taylor- #HeGone

Q Watson- Will be remembered for his bad azz jacket. Oh yeah.... #HeGone

By my count, out off 22 signees, 6 were kicked off, 1 had to end his career, and 2 were 1 and done guys.

And if your talking about the Hawaii kid.... Wasn't it Colton Goeas or something like that? Played on the same HS team as Reeve Koehler.

Colton Goeas, Zach Barnes (was playing 2nd string NT at Grayson), Jackson, and Joe Sanders. What about the JUCO OT that went to Azusa pacific?

The class produced a first-round NFL draft pick.

Wow what a miserable recruiting class that was.

This should be a class at Troy, UAB or LA Tech

“The ones that are recruiting me the hardest, I’d have to say, would be Tennessee, definitely, Ohio State, Penn State and Duke,” said Clark, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 28 offensive tackle for the 2015 class in the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs prospect rankings and ratings from major recruiting media outlets.

“I hadn’t actually been back in Neyland Stadium since I was about 10 years old,” he said. “I mean, it’s definitely a great experience getting to go there and see Neyland and just see all the tradition that is Tennessee and that surrounds that place. “It’s just pretty awesome to think about, that I have the opportunity to go play for a team with so much tradition.”

“I don’t have anything set in stone right now, but I’m definitely planning to make it to Tennessee, Ohio State and Penn State for, if not a junior day, then a spring practice or a spring game,” he said. “Those are the three I’m definitely going to be visiting this spring.”

Seems like tOSU is our main competition. He says he has no favorites, but he's interested mainly in UT, Penn St, tOSU, and Duke.

Jones, Stewart, Richmond, Clark and one more then call it a day. OL recruiting going goooooooood

I agree, we can be very picky. Those are a good four, and I feel confident we can get those four. Who would be the last one? Does anyone have insight to the last one we have the best chance with?

Four-star OT still high on Vols

Austin Clark grew up hearing plenty about Tennessee, and he admittedly holds the Vols in high regard after visiting them three times earlier this year.

Four-star junior offensive tackle Austin Clark of Rockbridge County High School in Lexington, Va., claims 13 scholarship offers to date.

But they’re just one of a number of teams he’s currently considering.

The four-star junior offensive tackle from Rockbridge County High School in Lexington, Va., now claims 13 scholarship offers to date after adding an offer from Ohio State on Monday, and he said he has “no real favorites right now” among the schools pursuing him.

Clark said Tennessee and Ohio State are among the handful of teams recruiting him hardest at this point, but he doesn’t believe he’s anywhere close to deciding on a college.

“No real favorites right now. Those are the ones that have kind of impressed me and that I’m getting recruited the hardest by.”

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Clark said his father “kind of grew up a Tennessee fan” and regularly attended games at Neyland Stadium when he was younger, and he was happy to receive a scholarship offer from the Vols in June.

The younger Clark participated in one of Tennessee’s camps earlier this year before returning for its “Foundation Day” in July and its home game against South Alabama on Sept. 28.

Clark said he was thrilled to learn of his offer from Ohio State.

“I was definitely excited. I had been in contact with (Buckeyes offensive line) coach (Ed) Warinner and (wide receivers) coach (Zach) Smith since August, and we’ve been talking a lot. It was definitely exciting for me to get the offer. Ohio State’s definitely a place I like a lot,” Clark said.

“I like how they’ve been doing really well these past years and what Coach (Urban) Meyer has done with that program and what’s in their future. It’s just pretty exciting to think about, that I have the opportunity to go there and play, also.”

He said he also has been talking "a lot" recently with coaches from Nebraska and South Carolina.

While Clark said his goal right now is only to “have a decision before Christmas next year,” he already has identified a few schools he’s hoping to visit within the next few months.

“I don’t have anything set in stone right now, but I’m definitely planning to make it to Tennessee, Ohio State and Penn State for, if not a junior day, then a spring practice or a spring game,” he said. “Those are the three I’m definitely going to be visiting this spring.”
