'16 AL ATH Tadarryl Marshall (FORMER UT commit 4/28/15)

Our RB is malik Miller and yes, he is committed to Auburn. They are getting a good one. They got our best player last season also. His name is Kerryon Johnson. I wonder why our staff hasn't contacted our Junior OL Austin Troxell. He is 6-7" 290 and is an absolute beast. He already has Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss offers.

I came mighty close to moving to the Madison area for a job this summer. Hate that it didn't work out cause I love that area, just couldn't bring myself to uproot for a lateral move. That part of Madison Co is going to turn out more and more players, like Williamson Co, as it continues to become the desired place for families in north Alabama.

I always thought as far as running the ball, Malik was better than Kerryon. Guy has been tearing it up even as a freshman.

Has nothing to do with his first game, but I am 85% sure Marshall doesn't end up at UT. Same with Dorian Banks. Both are solid prospects, but our WR/ATH recruiting is going VERY well for 2016 and 2017. With a 24-25 man class this year, they'll get squeezed out. Both could be DBs also, so I'm not ready to say for certain that they won't be Vols (depends on how our DB/ATH recruiting goes). But they won't be here on offense.

The WRs we are leading for right now will blow everyone's mind. It did mine. I have an actual snapshot of our recruiting board from 8/14/15. Under no circumstances will I post it, but it looks very promising. Davis, Victor, and Corley are going to be very interesting follows for the next few months....

Edit: ...and Callaway.

Hardman? Don't think anyone needs to see the staff's recruiting board to be fairly certain that Hardman is near the top of the list unless I've completely missed a big nugget of information.

We are going to take 24 to 25 commits for 2016?

We are going to take 24 to 25 commits for 2016?

I'm absolutely convinced that no one knows. Not even Butch. If you could somehow get a straight answer out of him about numbers, he would probably say that we'll take a number of players somewhere within the range of a to b (20-24 just as an example) depending on factors c,d, and e (ex: attrition, injuries, blueshirts, grayshirts, graduations, transfers, walk-ons etc.) that are difficult to predict at this point. Fans obviously want to hear a specific number, but that would seriously be the most open, honest response he could possibly give.

I know some people have difficulty dealing with uncertainty, but that's the nature of the beast in this instance. It's just an extremely fluid situation.

At least, yes. When several blue shirts didn't fill scholarships by the deadline (kicked off the team/transferred out), it opened up immediately vacant scholarships. Swafford also freed up one. 25 is the number right now that can be obtained straight up, but with Butch math it could be more.

If Knott picks Bama or Ole Miss, Osborne flips, and we can't pick up any DBs that already solely concentrate on being a DB.... Yes. But I highly doubt Osborne goes anywhere, I think we have a pretty good shot with Knott, and I think there are 3 other kids that are very high on UT that we would prefer to take at DB than the project Marshall would be.

He reminds me of Lucas Tayor, who was an average player on bad teams... which made him seem better than he was because we didn't have much else. I just think we are recruiting at a much higher level than Marshall. Like Bama, his state school, who really wasn't ever very interested.

While I get what you are saying, I would take a guy with 73 catches and 1,000 receiving yards all day, every day. That is what Lucas Taylor did. He also played in the SECCGthat year.

Alex Amidon had 1,032 yards receiving in 2013. Who is Alex Amidon, you ask? Exactly. He's a 6'0 white dude who played for BC lol.

I'd love that "production" but Lucas only had those numbers because, again, he was all we had. His 2008 stats were much more tame.

0-3 screams best playmaker in the state

Well it's a good thing he's not playing QB for us now isn't it, Mr.?

Do you want him to be bad lol? Wow...

It's one game... but at least someone is happy a Vol commit had a bad game ??

Long season, and yes he is still one of the best offensive players in the south. Stay tuned...

I'm sure a Boston College fan would have a more fleshed out appreciation of Amidon ... Then ask THEM if they know who Joey Kent is. :). No matter what, 1000 yards receiving is an accomplishment...a noteworthy one. We've had PLENTY of number one targets NOT reach that benchmark...and recently. :matrix:

I agree. We haven't had a 1,000 yard receiver in awhile. But I don't think anyone will mention Lucas Taylor in the same breath as Pickens, Kent, Meachem, Price, Gault, etc. His numbers were high in 2007 because he was the only option for Ainge.

Austin Rogers and Josh Briscoe were the #2 and #3 receivers that year if that tells you anything. Quentin Hancock was 4th.

I suppose Tadarryl Marshall could've gotten some PT in that WR corps. Lol.

And yet you still have never seen him play.....................just admit you are clueless about the guy other than he has a cool Hudl video and he's a Vol commit. He will be recruited over. Best playmaker in the state without seeing a single snap of him or any other player in the state..........makes a ton of sense, but keep deflecting and assuming I am wishing for a Vol commit to play poorly.

I just don't see Marshall, Henderson AND Banks in this class. At least 2 of those 3 will sign elsewhere. They're solid recruits but if we win 8-9 games this year, we will have much better options. We already do have better options if we can close on a few guys.

Banks will not be a Vol.

Henderson and Marshall might not either, but it won't be because they're not good enough.

Well, you're kind of giving that impression.

Looooong season. Stay tuned...

Actually, in some ways, that's exactly why it will be. If we recruit over them, that's kinda what that says. Marshall wasn't good enough to be (heavily) recruited by his home state schools. IMO he's the type of guy who goes to Mizzou or UK and is one of their better players, but gets hidden in a depth chart at UT or Auburn, etc.

You don't have to be the next Tim McGee to be remembered as a good player. Foisting the garbage player label on him won't make our true legends any more revered...so it comes across as mean spirited agenda. Not asking for a Lucas Taylor museum, but have a little respect. Won't drop your T-count.
