'16 AL ATH Tadarryl Marshall (FORMER UT commit 4/28/15)

The Tennessee commitment lived up to his initials -- TD -- scoring two second-half touchdowns in sending the Class 4A, No. 4 Green Wave over Class 3A, No. 3 Piedmont 29-12 in a cross-classification battle of top five teams both coaches agreed was a "playoff atmosphere game."

Big players make big plays in big games and Marshall did. He scored on a 12-yard run in the third quarter to erase one Piedmont lead, and then changed the momentum of the game with a 71-yard punt return early in the fourth quarter.

"We talked all week about keeping it away from No. 1 (Marshall); he's really dangerous on those returns," Smith said. "He's as good a player as we'll see all year long."

Tadarryl Marshall, QB, Leeds: The Tennessee commit added kick returning duties to his resume this season, expanding his big-play potential. Last week against Piedmont, Marshall showed his versatility, running for 131 yards and a touchdown and returning a punt 79 yards for a touchdown in a 29-12 victory. He has seven rushing TDs, five TD passes and two return TDs so far this season. Marshall led the Green Wave to the 4A title last year, and another championship run will definitely bolster his Mr. Football resume.

This kid seems to be able to play whatever position asked of him, and excel at it.
I know some on here think this kid won't be a Vol in February(not because eh didn't want to, pulled offer) but he seems like the type of kid and athlete we need. Makes things happen

Had 227 all-purpose yards last night: Quarterback Tadarryl Marshall was 6 for 8 passing for 110 yards and one touchdown. He also scored on a 9-yard run, 45-yard punt return and also was on the receiving end of a 45-yard touchdown pass.

Taddaryl Marshall is one of the most versatile prospects in Alabama and will play college football at Tennessee.

"Marshall is an intriguing prospect, and he's getting better and more physical as he gets older," Scout's John Garcia said. "A state title winner, he has the ball skills and savvy running ability to play wide receiver effectively in college."

OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Speed
Slight build with average height. Lean and wiry, but also very flexible. Looks like a CB or WR despite playing QB at this level. Is quick, sudden and can play in space. Tops out quickly though and you don't always see a noticeable second gear from him. Has very good acceleration and short area quickness.

Ball Skills
Difficult to gauge at this stage. Exclusively a Wildcat QB and sometime corner. Lacks ball catching reps, but is a natural athlete so we don't see an issue in this area.

Versatility
He could literally line up in just about any skilled role and excel. A natural football player with instincts and a feel for the game. A best fit as a corner/slot receiver in time, but could be a utility weapon as well with return capability. Could be a candidate at QB if in an option scheme.

Big Play Ability
Makes more big plays as a ball carrier due to the nature of this scheme and how he is utilized. Shifty and elusive but we see more 10- or 15-yard quick gainers at the next level than home run plays. Can turn a negative run into a positive. A difficult matchup in the open field one-on-one. Displays the consistent ability to break into the open field and is capable of taking it the distance when he gets a seam vs this competition. Shows wiggle, very quick feet and the lateral jump cut ability to avoid tacklers and get back to top speed rapidly. He is never going to be an imposing athlete due to his build/stature which may be why he%u2019s a best fit on the perimeter on defense.

Bottom Line
This guy is a good little football player. He is a projection right now and needs development from a positional and strength standpoint. Marshall has some power five traits, but may see most of his attention come from the group of five level.
