Tatum said Florida and Tennessee lead for his services. Miami, who he is also considering, has some work to do.
Theyre probably about third on my list behind Florida and Tennessee, Tatum said.
So what is Tatums mindset this weekend during his official visit to Knoxville?
Im just going with an open mind, the 6-foot-6, 265-pound prospect said. I just want to be exposed to everything and take it all in.
Really, not just me, Tatum said when asked how the Vols might woo him. Impress my mom too because my mom didnt come with me last time I went to Tennessee. My moms opinion is big on me. I just want to hear her opinion and get her feelings.
Marcus Tatum - The Florida offensive tackle will be on campus for his second time Saturday and the key with Tatum is that his mother is visiting. Tatum has a genuine interest in the Vols, but Tennessee is chasing Florida. Distance isn't necessarily a concern here, but it certainly helps Florida that Tatum lives just over an hour from Gainesville. Tennessee has a chance to make up some ground, but Florida still has an official visit down the road.
The Florida offensive tackle just wrapped up his official visit to Knoxville and it sounds like the Vols really helped themselves. Most importantly, it sounded like his mother was very comfortable in Knoxville and she liked the visit a good deal as well.
In terms of a decision, Tatum said he is just concentrating on his high school's playoff season. He didn't even know when/if he would take a Florida official visit. I think that's more due to him concentrating on his final few games in high school than his interest in the Gators.
But, again, it sounds like Tennessee helped themselves. How much? Time will tell. Full story will be up shortly.
"A lot," Tatum answered when asked if the Vols helped their cause this weekend. "They really helped themselves with my mom. She really likes them now."
"It was fun. It was a great family atmosphere. I really liked the game and I really enjoyed myself. The best part was just the coaches," Tatum said. "And then I had the same host as last time and she was really nice and I liked being with her and it was cool being with the players. It was an all around good experience. "The biggest takeaway was the family experience here. There's a home feeling around here."
Tatum said Florida was the team to beat entering the weekend but exiting he said he's not ready to compare the two programs and schools.
"Now, I haven't really thought about where they are and all that stuff, I'm just worried about my high school," Tatum said. "I haven't really even thought it out. I'm just trying to get through the playoffs and enjoy the last part of my high school season because it's win or go home now and that's all I want to think about. "That's the thing, I'm just going to worry about that later."
it's really just florida and tennessee up top, tatum admitted. really, i just feel so comfortable at both of those schools. I feel like i can call both of those coaches and they know my gpa and everything. They are always keeping in constant contact, its a second family at both of those places.
"the tennessee visit was great. It went beyond expectations. I really enjoyed myself, and so did my family. I just had a really good time it was crazy, 102,000 people just screaming, going crazy. Every third down, the whole stadium goes upside down."
they are really depleted at tackle, and they dont really have any type of depth at all at tackle. Its another opportunity to compete for a spot.
