Good ole "we didn't want him anyway"
We def needed and wanted him. Though our guard play is unproven we have young depth. We only have 3 tackles on our roster, 2 go down and we're playing Mac's dog. Two guards go down and we're in trouble but at least have bodies. Tatum is a huge need and you guys getting hurts us more than it helps you. win win for vols.

Would he have redshirted at UF?
absolutely, but in a pinch (injures) and coaches deem no better options as scarce as tackle situation is, not that unlikely if he added some weight that it would be burned if two of Ivey, Johnson, Sharpe go down. My UF friends may be confusing talent with depth, our tackle talent is better but guard depth stronger. If Jan recruiting magic doesnt happen this is a concern no matter what we want to convince ourselves.
Think Mac has some tricks up his sleeves with someone else hopefully though because we were trending for Tatum and relationship was once strong, very odd he's announcing without even giving UF the benefit of OV.
Hey Chavis and Darth...regarding my FSU stance. It us just my opinion. I really thought they were poised for a Bama like run. But the defensive falloff the last two years is astounding with the way their recruiting has been going. The post JW effect is understandable on offense. I have the feeling Jimbo is headed into a Mark Richt like purgatory of underachievement, or maybe post NC Fulmer is a better comparison. You guys may be right, and I hope so. A healthy FSU detracts somewhat from the Gators.
