'16 FL RB Carlin Fils-Aime (Vol commit 7/30/15)

UGA has had their pick of RB's lately. I'm sure he was lower on their board, and they got who they wanted in Holyfield. The question is, "was their evaluation correct?" I'm beginning I think they may have passed on a star

Impressive as UGA's backfield has been over the past several years, I like ours currently better. I know some argue Chubb is a better back than Hurd but I disagree; Jalen makes something out of nothing a lot of times and if he gets good blocking can rip through defenses. Kamara looks ridiculous in space, Kelly looks like a younger version of him(hell I'm not sure that you can't say he has better vision than Kamara now), Young also looked like he was pretty decent in limited touches. I think we have a special backfield when our young but promising Olinemen begin to grow into SEC caliber players.

Someone asked Coach Gillespie about Fils-Aime at the Knoxville QB club luncheon yesterday and he said he couldn't comment on unsigned commits. Went on to add that he loves really, really good running backs though.

I'm as big of a Tennessee homer as they come, but come on. Hurd is an amazing back, but Chubb has proven better so far. This difference is not JUST because of our o-line.

Nick Chubb
2015: 92 attempts - 747 yards - 8.1 avg ypc - 7 TD
2014: 219 attempts - 1547 yards - 7.1 avg ypc - 14 TD

Jalen Hurd
2015: 162 attempts - 725 yards - 4.5 avg ypc - 9 TD
2014: 190 attempts - 899 yards - 4.7 avg ypc - 5 TD

Chubb and Hurd are completely different kinds of RBs . And you have no idea how many more yards Hurd would have with better blocking. Half the time he gets the ball, he is getting hit almost immediately. With a little better blocking the numbers would be equivalent imo. It would look different though.

27% of Hurd's yards comes after contact. He literally had to cut in the backfield on several attempts. Chubb is great but I think if Olines were even Hurd is every bit as good as Chubb.

These stats are inconsequential to your point

I see Jalen fighting to break tackles behind the line of scrimmage 50% of the time. I would say the lines make that much of a difference.

Chubb is only faster in the open field. Hurd has him beat everywhere else.

Only meaningful comparison at the moment is that Hurd has more stable knees. Chubb may never return to elite RB status.

Made me a little nervous and read it again
