That could also be said for Latrell Williams, the wide receiver out of Florida. Williams really liked the Vols last week and while he's stayed quiet following his official visit to Knoxville, we continue to hear a good amount of Tennessee buzz around his recruitment. But, this could depend on how the numbers work out over the next few days.

Speed is one of last things I look at for a Wr. I guarantee you the Qb does not care if the Wr runs real fast... the wrong way. The Qb does not care how fast the Wr runs... when he drops the ball. Speed is 3rd imo.

So basically we want our WRs to be able to catch the ball and not be complete dumbasses. Why don't we throw breath oxygen and wipe their own butt on the list as well?

This is going to be the one nobody is talking about that ends up a Vol because we miss on one we expected.

I'm torn..this kid is fast and could be a great KR and a WR for us..but I really want Dickerson and Brown..harder to find the big guys like that than speedy WRs imo

Only way they take Williams is if their board is down to Williams, Moss, and Bailey. Even then Williams may not be #1. They won't take a 5th WR over any of the top DL options.

Totally agree. What's worse is that I like Williams more than any of the wideouts we already have signed and committed (in this class, anyway). Coaches can't teach 4.3 speed, and Williams' senior film is outstanding. Some team is going to wind up with a total steal with this late-bloomer.

Going forward, I hope this coaching staff is a lot more selective with its scholarship offers. We're good enough now that we don't need the advantage of being the first school to offer a prospect to grab their attention.

I don't mind the offers. Just wait when taking commitments from borderline SEC talent so early. You need to offer early to keep the kid interested and on his short list.

tifwiw..but a teammate of his told me that he actually saw him timed sub 4.3..now that might not be as accurate as some of the camps' times but it does show that he is probably a legit sub 4.4 guy

One of the Canes' more trusted posters said Williams wasn't dropped for visiting UT, though the coaches were ticked about it and asked him to 100% reaffirm his commitment when he returned from Knoxville. Seems he wasn't willing to do that, so Richt told him he might not have a spot. It's speculative, but apparently, Williams did remove Canes stuff from his Twitter account.

Looks like he could be an explosive player with good upside. Not sure if we can make room-- or how long he'll wait around for us to decide. Bet Miami still takes him, if we can't.

I think Moss is probably ahead of him on the overall board, bigger need IMO at this point.

What is your problem? You do know some Wrs have better hands than others right? You do know some Wrs run routes better than others right? Some Wrs are faster than others right? Coaches evaluate and have priorities on these skill sets right? Am I not allowed to state my opinon? All I am saying is speed is 3rd on my list when evaluating a Wr. I am NOT SAYING Latrell does not do well at catching the ball or route running, only responding to "we need that kind of speed" statement because that is all I have heard about him.

I do not know if you or others misunderstood what I was saying or what, but it sure did not deserve a 5th grade type response!!
