16' GA ATH/DB Mecole Hardman

"Talking to more teams has kind of opened my eyes," Hardman said. "I was down to two teams - Georgia and Tennessee - but now these other teams coming on me like Alabama, Ole Miss and Michigan, make me think about not doing anything too fast. I put them above everyone, but now they are equal with everyone else."

That curiosity in other programs has put his much-discussed silent commitment is potentially off the table as well, depending on how Hardman feels following his Michigan official.

"It is 50/50 right now," Hardman said. "If I do it, I would like to do it late November or early December."

One official visit, to Miami, is in the books. Up next are officials to Ole Miss Nov. 21 and Michigan Nov. 28. At the moment, TCU and Oregon are in the driver's seat for the final two visits, which could come in January. Alabama will get him on campus for an unofficial visit next weekend for the LSU game, while he hopes to check out a basketball game at Tennessee and the Gala senior banquet at Georgia the second weekend in December.

Hardman, who wants to major in sports broadcasting, still plans to announce his decision on signing day.

Well then we better hope Mecole is really good at playing the game. He's been saying he would shock people with his decision. Not really shocking if you go to the place everyone has been saying you're going to.

How many recruits have said they'd "shock the world" only to completely not shock the world with their ultimate decision?

That is the most overused cliché in recruiting language.

This kid sure loves to play the game.

Looks like Georgia is going to land another huge class again. Recruiting in Georgia for Georgia is like taking candy from a baby. Nothing to it.

For it to be as easy as you suggest, they sure do lose a ton of great in state players. I doubt they sign either Brown or Davis.

Exactly. Georgia bleeds great players to SEC foes every year. Hell that's one of the gripes Georgia fans have about Richt. As good as they are recruiting, they should be a lot better. In 2013 they lost Robert Nkemdiche, Carl Lawson, and Montravious Adams. Imagine where that d-line would be right now?

I don't recall a reputable poster named RebelVenom reminding us weekly how much Richmond was Ole Miss' to lose though. We have a pretty legit source on Hardman's activity. We didn't with Richmond. Richmond recruitment was a lot different in many ways actually.

Did we need that to remind us that Richmond was "Ole Miss' to lose"? You're right that Hardman's recruitment is different. Richmond was verbally committed to Ole Miss for close to 5 months and showed no signs of flipping until mid January. We had posters come to his thread every week to post that Richmond was overheard recruiting for Ole Miss during his visits here and that Butch was being naive for still pursuing him. Some of you are really putting a lot of stock in what an anonymous poster says. I have seen too much misinformation here to consider anyone who chooses to remain anonymous 'a pretty legit source'. Those calling for Butch Jones to focus his efforts elsewhere should really trust his judgement a little more than that. After all, he has a strong track record and his sources (the actual recruits) are usually more reliable.

Reuben Foster too

Yep. He's building his announcement up to make it seem like everyone is even. This has been a 2 team race for a very long time. If he lived 2 hours away from Athens, I think he would already be a silent to us. The interesting part of that article is he wants to major in sports broadcasting...don't we have like the most state of the art, new facilities for broadcasting?

Yes he knows all about our sports broadcasting and what it has to offer he was wowed by it on several occasions, I just think the pressure to stay home is overwhelming I've said this many times it would be like Richt trying to get Tee Higgins to come to UGA just a tough pull but I stand by what I said uga's to lose

If Butch could convince Hardman and Davis to sign, this offense should be flat out filthy next fall. The OL should finally be bigger, stronger, more talented and experienced = able to give Dobbs time to throw and force establish a bruising running game.

I agree but they can't take them all. They only have so many spots and they have to recruit their needs leaving some top talent for the rest of us.

He's talking about players they really wanted that got away...more than a few.

I get that but no school gets every player they want. They land a top 5 class about every year. With that happening, they should win a Natty every 10 years or so. They get more than enough talent to win it all. Recruiting is so easy for them just like Florida. You can bet Florida will land another top class before NSD.

You're talking about the team coached by Mark Richt, right?

OV is the source you want to listen to on this one and many of the GA kids. Especially so on this one though. Thanks OV for sharing.

Not to be a Debbie downer but this years recruiting class has been pretty disappointing so far.

Still a long way to go with some players we are in on (Warrior, Williams, Brown) and it didn't figure to be as strong for '16 because of our numbers, no legacies this year and a relatively weak year in state. We just didn't start with a lead for as many players.

However, '17 should be a top another 10 class and maybe even top 5.
