so you would not have taken Joey Kent, Corey Fleming, Jayson Swain, etc.
You're making it a black or white issue though, and it's just not. WAAAY too many examples that blow your rigid 6-2/4.4 rule of thumb out of the water.
And as for Davis and Hardman, why does it have to be either/or? Why can't we just take both if we're so lucky?
I hate these kind of isolated examples...as if the majority of kids coming out of HS with chitty measureables are stars in the making. For every Pharoah Cooper, there are hundreds of busts. But don't let that stop you from peddling such nonsense. Then you wouldn't have given Pharoh Cooper a 2nd glance, considering he was listed at 5-11, 190 with a 4.66 40 time coming out of high school.

You sound just like Derek Dooley, as that seemed to be his perspective on recruiting. Load up on 3*s because one or two might pan out.Busts? Few 3 stars can be considered busts for SEC schools. There not highly regarded enough to be a bust in a big time conference.
Just because many 3 stars don't become superstars doesn't change the fact that there are a LOT of them that become great players. Ideally, a top tier school will have a staff that can find kids like Cooper flying under the radar and take them over 4 star kids with off the field or attitude deficiencies.
Admittedly, that is easier said than done. There are a LOT of HS football players and even some greats like Aaron Rodgers were overlooked coming out of high school. Some kids are simply late bloomers or play against such bad competition it's hard to tell how good they really are. Some kids play 3/4 sports and don't get a chance to focus on football only until college.
It can be difficult to find the 3* kids like Cooper, but there are a lot of them out there.

You should take remedial reading lessons, yourself....cause the post I quoted was making the case that a 3* WHO IS SHORT AND HAD A SLOW 40 TIME would not be a legit concern in SEC recruiting. You should work on your reading comprehension.
All I said is that a good staff should be able to find the 3 stars like Pharoah Cooper.
To win championships, you need the 5 stars as well.
