This guy is my favorite recruit in the 2016 cycle.

2014: Dillon Bates
2015: Khalil McKenzie
2016: Nigel Warrior

best defensive back: Nigel warrior, 6-foot, 175, westlake high school: I really wanted to go with grady's marlon character (6-1, 170) because he has the size, length and speed that colleges value so highly. But i just couldn't ignore warrior after his big week. He controls the middle of the field. He plays defensive back like he's a wide receiver, fighting for every pass like it was intended for him. He had two interceptions in the game, including one he finished with a dazzling 64-yard return. He's the son of former nfl pro bowler dale carter, and he has a dozen offers, including tennessee (his father's alma mater), ohio state and uga. Said mansell: "he has ball skills, he will hit you and he's physical. (espn3 commentator) dj shockley said it best: He gives you that 'ed reed vibe' about him." the close runner-up was peachtree ridge's chad clay, son of former georgia tech star willie clay. He also had two picks. Said mansell: "chad clay was better than i thought he was. He's a legit 6-foot guy. He's going to continue to be heavily recruited."

I think both Carter and EB were the two best DBs to ever don the orange and white. I think what might push EB over the top for me was EB's ability and desire to hit someone with an attempt to knock them out of the game.

Isn't Berry the leader in career INT return yardage?

I know Carter was electric wth the ball in his hands but Berry is arguably the best safety in SEC history.

EB finished 6 yards short of the career FBS record (Terrell Buckley - 501 yards) largely because of the way he was used in Monte Kiffin's defense.

Year - # INTs - INT return yards
2007 - 5 - 222 yards
2008 - 7 - 265 yards
2009 - 2 - 7 yards

Buckley return yardage mentioned here (Wikipedia, I know, but I remember his stats being mentioned throughout the '09 season):

Would be awesome if he committed to open up 2015. Either him or another big name recruit.

I think this will probably be similar to the Berry bros recruitments. I think most coaches will think he is a vol lock and will put most of their eggs in another basket. You can tell he loves TN

EB is the best DB in SEC history. He's one of the best DBs in college football history. There's not one DB in SEC history I would trade for Berry.

I agree but don't think you can go wrong with either.

Agreed.

Eric Berry was nothing short of Tremendous. An all time great Volunteer.

I do feel however that there are some on here that only saw EB play, and may only know the "name" Dale Carter.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But these unequivocal statements that EB was hands down better than Carter are a little off base.

Dale Carter was a bad, bad man. :)

Absolutely. Dale Carter was playing around the beginning of my UT fandom... maybe that's why I remember him with such fondness. I thought the guy was gonna score every time he touched it... but you can say the same for EB.

Dale Carter was nasty that's not a question. But Berry is a national name. Every one knows Berry from his Freshman year going forward. There hasn't been a better safety overall in my mind in college.

Agreed...and that's really more of a testament to just how great Berry is. Dale Carter was amazing, but EB just took the safety position to a whole new level IMO.
